Okay, I'm Back. greetings from the Critique Club.

There is something about the name Critique that implies that I am supposed to be critical. But how can I be???/ This picture is PERFECT. So I think I'll just ramble around about the thing I like in the photo and not try to organize my thoughts into a cohesive essay.

This picture brings to mind the classic Greek image of the dua theatre mask, Comedy/Tragedy. That is an icon that has endured for thousands of years so it must speak to a deep human condition as does your photo.

Compositionally your picture is excellent. It would have worked for me in the negative space challenge tpp even though the neg space is just a tiny hourglass shape, heavier on the bottom and just a sliver on top. The girls are close, even connected yet the dark space separates the. They are symetical but not quite. Even though there is nothing but cheek in the exact center, the eyes and the mouths are sort of in the rule of thirds spots, though a bit wider which stretches the view outwards, and then back inwards as the viewer looks from eyes to mouth and back. The eyes are place as it it would be a portrait of one person but the composition is divided. Beautiful.

Technically it is also stunning. I like the sharp sharp focus on the eyes - makes them look right into me. I like the soft focus on the cheeks, noses and mouths. The colors are perfect pastels. They are all in the same tonal range and work together. The two dark spots of the pupils are balances by the dark triangle of separation.

Emotionally the image is POWERFUL. Here are two identical twins, two identical faces, two identical people. But wait! They'r not all that alike. One smiles a bright be tentative smile, the other is more reserved. One's coloring is a brighter pale pink, again the other is more reserved. One takes up just slightly more of the picture, the other holds back a little. Perhaps in life also, the one steps forward ans takes up just a bit more of the world than the other.

Here are two girls on the brink. They are right between childhood and teen hood. They are about to step into the most difficult transition of their life. Do they know it? Maybe not but they sense it. Ireflects in their faces. The open confidence of childhood is gone. Now I see the insecurity and caution as well as the excitement of the unknown. There is mystery in these faces, they are not hiding anything but they don't know it all either.

THese twins are so lucky to have such a talented photographer for a father. I can only assume that he is as sensitive a father as he is a photographer. While your images are incredibly sensitive I'll bet your parenting is also.

Beautiful eyes. Definately portrays the song. The angle and framing/cropping is good. I like how you have halved each kids face. The focus is very nice. Excelent color and lighting. Good luck in the challenge.

Blonds I assume, but still the color is a bit washed out for my tastes. Yet, one of my top ten this week.

Carsten, your usual excellent photograph. I hope you are paying those youngsters the standard modeling fee. JEM

Neat idea, this is a great shot. It looks a bit grainy but that could just be my monitor.7.

Take my comments for what they are worth for I am just a novice with a new camera. Dodo
