With highlights on the absolute front, this doesn't look backlit to me.

While I'm sure this is backlit, the frontal lighting overwhelms it. The focus on the red pepepr is also a little soft... 5

Too much fore-lighting cancels out whatever backlighting you were using. This looks like a regular studio still-life to me.

Is this backlighting? By the reflection, it looks as though light sources are above the subject. Any backlighting seems incidental.
