Home-made? Wow. Nice work on many levels.

Gets down. 6

on my screen, this moves into that "my eyes hurt" zone. I would've stuck with a single layer border of the outer darker brown, but i guess i get where its coming from.

Nice concept, and delicious looking dessert!

Sounds like something Bear_music would make. :)

I like the pov and the dof. Are the lady fingers a little oversaturated? (color wise, not simple syrup or liqueur-wise. :)

Voted earlier coming back to comment now.

Without the title it would be hard to tell just what exactly the dessert is. I love Tiramisu and chocolate covered coffee beans so it is a winning dessert in the tasty treat category. I know you went in to give us a nice close-up of the tasty details but with a cake I think it would be best to pull back a tad just so we can see the defining shape. The lighting does not show off this dessert to it's fullest potential. There are blown highlights in the top portion of the cake such that the white topside appears as a shapeless flat mass. Better lighting would have captured some contrast and definition of the cake. I think the focus is a little too much on lady finger crust and too little on the chocolate curls, some coffee beans and top of cake. Lastly, I suggest to get rid of the two shades of brown border. It does very little to complement the photo other than act as a distraction to draw attention away from the dessert. The important star of the composition is the Tiramisu, so play that strength up and show it off in all it's glory without any frilly 'dressings' of a distracting border.

Nice work on the dessert, but the border is very dominant here.

I'm not crazy about this shot because I prefer things in focus. Just my personal opinion. I don't think not having the top of this dessert in focus helps at all. Plus it is over-exposed in the white area.

This has nice color, textures and lines.

Looks very tasty. As an image I would've moved the frame a little higher, now the lady fingers are a little overpowering. The area on the right looks a bit messy, maybe clean that up next time.

I LOVE the angle and the cropping. I am not a big fan of the solid frame around images, so this is distracting for me, but hardly important as far as photography goes.

This is a tough challenge to vote. I'm torn between "what are you trying to do here" and "what do I expect here". Further complicating matters is the question "what would I do here".

What I would expect would be a technically strong piece of eye-candy that would present the dessert in a way that I would want to at least sample it, if not order it. Along these lines I'm looking at technicals: backgrounds, distracting elements, exposure, sharpness. I'm also looking for creativity, imagination, and originality, which can make up for less than perfect technicals.

So, where does this leave me with your image?

I love the idea and composition, but feel that your exposure got away from you. I can tell you what I would do, but can't begin to tell how dpc is going to react...

Very good image, excellent colors and presentation. The amount of calories in this makes my mind bogle..;-))

the white balance is terribly off... maybe work on that for the next image you submit?
