Challenge: Abstract Motion via Camera (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D Mark III
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II
Location: NY
Date: Jul 2, 2012
Aperture: 16
ISO: 3200
Shutter: 2 seconds
Date Uploaded: Jul 2, 2012

So, i get to play with camera movement to create abstract motion, and i really dig the idea. I felt like i wanted to do this with something spectacular and lucky enough, my coworkers town was having fireworks this past weekend.

I went there, had a good time, took some pictures and really rather than the standard tripod exposure, played around with it. a lot. I liked the 2 second over the more exposed 5 second shots and less exposed 1 second shots. we got really good seats close to the fireworks so it was awesome - i was a little afraid the shockwaves might damage my camera/lens.

Quite excited to ribbon on my third challenge. I won't lie, I was hoping for top 20 with this one, but did not think I'ld make top 3 by a longshot. Thank you all for your votes, this definitely helps the confidence. First time i m doing a validation - hope it goes well.

A print version of this is now available (being reviewed actually). Currently, i believe the best cut is a 12x8. I have a 10x15 version prepped if there is demand, but theres a bit more negative space in it that i feel changes the image a bit.

Great idea to use fireworks for this image. The resulting lines and patterns created a very interesting abstract. Congrats on the yellow!
