I really like this image; however, it is more about the play of shadows than the sand. I still like it a lot. (voted earlier)

The lines divide the image so perfectly, and leads the eye to that little flourish at the corner of the gate(?). The juxtaposition of the warm colors and the cold frost/snow is lovely. A beautiful piece of abstract art.

Lighting, shadows, color, contrast are all good. Composition is average. Maybe try filling more of the frame with the scroll part of the lower fence corner? Not enough to eliminate the interesting shadow lines, but enough that you get a leading line effect from the shadows.

Ag dis pragtig Amanda. Die sneeu het my onkant gevang, maar jy is reg, ek moes geweet het...natuurlik, dit kan soms die tyd van die jaar sneeu daar in Clarens en omgewing.
