All you need here is some leaded borders to turn this into a very nice stained glass window. The rich, hot color is perfect for a summertime poppy. The thing that keeps me looking at this is not the luscious color or brilliant light, but the blurry smeary watercolor painterly lack of descriptive detail everywhere except the center of the flower. Fascinating combination of details, from the hot yellow lightening of light along the FG edge of that petal, to the watery green BG, to the smudged shadows, to the sharp detail of light on the flower center. This might be the most I've ever written in a comment, trying to explain my reaction to a comp. It's almost a shame to write words. Well done. |
