There is a story about the pears - I spent about 8 minutes looking through the supermarket bins for two pears with contoured shapes that would 'fit' together in a yin/yang configuration. Plus they had to have an interesting patchy skin coloration rather than a flat brown.

This is the list the materials used to create the image as you see in the composition:

2 Pears
1 Coffee Cup
2 sheets of textured paper
3.5 inch length of jewelry wire
Tissue Paper
Spray Adhesive Glue
1 Tea Label
Tape
Modeling Clay
1 rectangular cardboard box with large squares cut into opposite sides and top portion cut out entirely.
Scissors
4 sheets of paper towels
2 lights (one large and one small)

Those are the materials...now let's see if you can figure out the steps:-)

Thanks for all the compliments and the votes.

Print Version available: Instead of word Tazo on the tea tag, the print version has the word "Dali" on it.

Beautifully done!! I love pears! I thought of doing something similar, and I'm glad I didn't, because this is so much better than my idea. :)

really nice, and the print size, as it appears a bit smaller on my screen, is killer, too.

The textures, tones and warm colors make for a gorgeous still life no matter which way the picture goes. Love the light and shadows... and the upside down pear.... was thinking vawendy but evidently not - take that as a compliment, please!

Clever parody of old master still lifes and well executed take on the topic. Bumping to 8.

wonderful. i like the hues and the upside down that is not reflected water or contrived or just a flipped frame. in my opinion, you nailed this challenge.
