Challenge: Photoshop Terms II (Minimal Editing I*)
Camera: Canon EOS-50D
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
Location: Madison, WI
Date: Apr 4, 2012
Aperture: 3.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/50
Date Uploaded: Apr 4, 2012

This idea came to me early in the challenge, as I had just bought some peeps and wanted to do something with them. I kept my son's medicine dispenser from an ear infection. Combine that with some green colored water and a marshmallow, and you have the cloning process widely known for creating peeps.

Of course, the irony of a minimal editing Photoshop challenge isn't lost here, as minimal editing of a studio setup shot is just as crazy of an idea.

Lighting for this was involved. There was a CFL light shining on the background with a DIY snoot acting as a barn door to prevent spill. A flash was shot through an umbrella from camera left, pointing down on the scene. A second flash was fired from camera right pointed at a reflector pointed down at the scene to open shadows a bit.

When first shooting, I forgot to change Picture Mode from the neutral setting, so the JPEGs were low in contrast, saturation, and sharpness. I re-shot with a custom Picture Mode to increase those values, and got a much more "acceptable" result.
