slightly cheating, since I was walking while shooting this, so I had my eyes open, just looking away from the subject and camera.

Early voters like it way better than my average open eyes stuff, which tells something about both my work and voters' preferences.

Things I learned shooting for this challenge:

. set the camera to fully automatic mode
. use a wide angle lens so you can reframe during post processing
. take multiple shots in close succession (this one is the 2nd in a sequence of 4)
. probably the best way of taking candid shots of people in close proximity

I like it. The red skirt and the red white and blue bags are very appealing to my eye. It makes me wonder where she's going. I like the peek of her petticoat underneath. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

the huge amount of saturation adds to it and takes away from it at the same time. It looks like a candid but if that bag wasn't there the narrative would be so strong, maybe through different cropping techniques. Cool shot though, caught at a great moment, which is a challenge with closed eyes. nice work.
