This was a very difficult shoot. He didn't mind the camera being out there, the umbrella really freaked him out, but the caution tape didn't seem to bother him.

The scene had to be set slowly, piece by piece, so that he could get used to it. If everything had gone out at once, it would have taken multiple days. As it was, it was only about 6 hours for the process.

When he finally got used to everything, then he decided that he wasn't particularly interested in the glass of peanuts, he was more interested in the rest of the stuff.

First, he wanted to take the picture himself:



Then he decided that he just wanted to hang out for a bit.



Then he thought that maybe the tripod was a new type of jungle gym



After all that, and finally having him show interest in the peanuts, the picture isn't that good.

The problem is that the umbrella and the camera are just too big for the squirrel, and since they're closer to the real camera, that makes it even worse. The size discrepancies are too much. And at 800 pixels, he's awfully small.

We need 1200 pixels horizontal!! :)

Seriously though -- what else was I supposed to do for this challenge? I'm obviously way too addicted to DPC for my own good. It's 11:27 pm, and instead of sleeping, I'm typing these comments.

Where's the nearest 12 step program?

Those first couple outtakes are awesome as well. Now if you were in them taking a peanut, that would have been a winner! :)
