Four knights game: Spanish. Symmetrical variation.

This was as far as I could bring the opening while still being legit. Any other symmetry in this opening would be shoehorning them in.

=================================
I originally read what's allowed and came upon use any feature of your camera while photographing your entry. Immediately I thought of doing this ME shot.

The rules can be hard to understand. I've had my share of DQ's due to misunderstanding them as written. It was a good shot either way.

an interesting take on the challenge (well thought out) but I am not a fan of the gray, flat light

Pretty clever! Probably moreso if you know a bit more about chess. :-)

So help me out - what's an ME shot? I love this! And I'm sure it would have scored very highly - though as I remember, there were some exceptionally clever and well-done entries for that challenge. It's one I've shared the link to with friends who are not into photography.

What a shame, I think this would've ribboned! It was DQ before I voted, but had it been legal I would've given it an 8 I think :)

Well done! Seems like it would be better in true BW, but I love the rest!

Probably the best palindrome and image combo in the challenge. Well executed. I can only guess double flash with one long exposure. Might be some other techniques I haven't thought of, but regardless, good job! 10
