An outtake for the Foliage II challenge back in October. Originally it was in color and cropped widescreen for that challenge. But I thought it might be too arsty and the primary focus was not the leaves. So I went with my other shot that was with just a leaf, dewdrops and a snailshell which won me the Red ribbon. We shall see how this is accepted by the community. I like it for what 'roots' can mean.

Interesting concept shot. Love the toughness of it. I kinda wish the hand extended more (wrist visible), as it seems to end abruptly. Very cool shot, though. Should score quite high...very "artsy".

Clever artistic idea and well executed. Something I appreciate. Another idea might have been to somehow have had your fingertips in the mulch between the roots creating the impression that the hand itself was also growing out of the ground like some kind of tree.
