I'm a software engineer so that will take some thinking about to produce an interesting picture!

Maybe I can get a kitten and some flowers on top of my monitor :)

LOL!
Don't forget the baby and the half-naked women!
Seriously: I thing everybody should be able to contribute an original image related to what he/she is doing.
I thing it must not be a shot exactly showing what you are doing (probably browsing the net :), but rather a situation or thing, humorous or sad, related to your daily doing.

My predictions for next week:

Many photos of computer screens shall be seen.
Telephone and network hardware will emerge.
A camera will ironically be taken a photo of.
Mothers will take photos of their children, which may include pets.
At least one boob will be voted upon.

Remember kids, you read it here first.

I work in a technical industry with very strict security, so I have no chance of taking any photos at work (unless I think this challenge is worth getting fired!!). I'l have to think hard on this one...

No work... so, my life...

School
Shoot
Sleep

Fun eh?

:)

You could take a close-up of the section of your employee handbook which prohibits cameras...

Same boat here :) I'm going to try for a shot that shows 'what' I do without showing 'where' I do it or 'what' I do it to :)

I'm curious... Hypothetically speaking, if someone worked for a secret government agency dedicated to world domination, would it be ok to shot my cover story instead?

Thanks :)

You could take a picture of something symbolizing security..
12/09/2002 01:15:29 PM · #11
lol! Or you could post a pic of a martini being held by a scantily clad russian agent with your high powered sports car reflected in the glass. Or have I been watching too many James Bond movies? :)

Expect lotsa pictures of computer monitors and cube farms. Bamaster, in what context do you foresee an image of a boob? You think there is a Wonderbra Designer in our midst?

For the sake of diversity, i hope there are some dpc members who are a
hooker . . . private investigator . . . cardiovascular surgeon . . . astronaut . . . dope dealer . . .Al Q sleeper (so that we can turn him in to the FBI) . . . Telemarketeer (so that we can tell him/her to put us on his/her Do No Call list). . .

Same here. I can't walk into my office without my camera being removed by security. How about for people who can't take pictures of where they work to just take some type of picture depciting AN occupation, which doesn't necessarily have to be yours. Allows for some creativity too, perhaps it can prevent the influx of computer monitor pictures everyone is expecting. Just rename the challenge "Occupations" :)

*lights incense and begins to chant mystically*

1, 2, 3... visions of deep come to me...

I see a mother showing her boob, the giver of life to her new child. I also see an exotic dancer illustrating her finance generator. Ohhmmmm.... I see a anti-pornography lobbyist making a political statement by showing us the wrong in boobage. Lastly, my inner eye has shown me student who will gratuitouslty post at least one boob becuase it will boost his votes will the males.

So I have spoken. So it shall be done.

Oh, yes, i see! Had not thought of any of those possibilities. I guess you are way more boob-oriented than i am.

You say "student ....post at least one boob... boost HIS votes with the males". I thought only women have boobs. Now you guys want to have them as well? No way! Boobs R Us

Please oh DPC Gods, I am begging you. Let us have no Gynecologists or Proctologists among us. And if there are, please, let them also have a second job. Oh, and DPC God, I also wish to not have that poor guy that personally tests all the rectal thermometers. (read the label, it says they are personally tested for quality!! EW)
Amen.

I'm sure he has a machine to help test them.

After all, his arm would get tired reaching round there all the time :)

what my occupation is and what i actually do at work are 2 different things...this will be interesting... Maybe I will set the camera up on the tripod and use the timer to get a pic of me surfing the web.

ok for real now....my idea has already been ratted out in an above post as a "typical shot" or what to expect shot so now I have to get double tripple creative... man my head is gonna explode

Just take a picture of any occupation you like. Most of the people here don't know you (or me) well enough to know if it's really your occupation anyway. I'm tempted to do that because I'm not sure how to depict my occupation anyway.
12/09/2002 04:46:06 PM · #20
That's a real tempting idea Gina. There is absolutely nothing photogentic about my job. :P Pooh, I don't even get to dress the manicans any more either. -:(
12/09/2002 05:20:43 PM · #21
if you take a picture of some guy working a jack hammer, or a trapeze artist, or an ice-cream truck driver, how is anyone going to be able to tell, just from looking at the pic, whether or not it it REALLY is the job of the completely anonymous person who submitted it? lol

(but don't listen to me, im a bad influence ...)

I wonder if we'll see a picture of the sign,
"WARNING! DO NOT look directly at laser with remaining good eye."

Challenge Details: Take a photograph representing what you do for a living. Dont work? Take a photograph representing what you do most of the time.

it sounds like you have to do your OWN occupation to me
12/09/2002 11:39:36 PM · #25
Well, theoretically it is suposed to be your own occupation, however, I don't know what anyone here does for a living, so someone could easily "pull one over on me" and i'd never know. I don't have an occupation, and I don't think a shot of me watching sponge bob square pants will do too good. :)
