Not created entirely with the pen, I did use a starting image. This is from October, last year. I'm wondering if this kind of work will be acceptable for this thread?

Well, the whole reason I use a camera and computer is because of my underdeveloped drawing skills -- I was figuring any image where the editing made use of the advantages of pen/tablet capabilities should be OK. It's not like anyone is going to DQ you for breaking the rules ... ;-)
For example, I wanted to make this composite image, and the use of the tablet was pretty essential in removing the unwanted background of the added image. The pen/tablet is the most ergonomically advantageous (physical) input device -- doing a lot of painting/cloning with a mouse can be a leading cause of repetitive-stress injury.

I have a Bamboo, which I've only used one or twice. I've got to learn it, everyone says they're fabulous.
My motivation for picking up a digital camera (originally) was to go out & capture interesting colors, which I could use in digital art compositions. In many ways, I still pay more attention to color & form than I do to focus & framing. I highly value my quiet time in the lazyboy, working on digital art, it gives me great peace of mind.

This is the type of thing I was talking about. I did this in May of 1990 just after my son was born.
I would do these type drawing to pass the time while I was waiting on truck loads.
I have not recently done any of these, they are sort of time consuming.
If this is ok , I will start a new one and upload my progress as I can.

Okay, here is a fragment of a pen/ink/brush drawing just to get started.
After scanning the original in and eventually cropping out most of it, I added
some gradients and a blending mode to give it some color. Does it still
read as a tree branch?
...
Here's the whole thing in another version. I had a chance to go back and play with this again this morning. This time I painted using a blending mode or two to make things interesting.
this makes a nice 8x10.
this is one of a series of tree branches, stumps, etc. that reminded me of people.
I call this one "The Dancer", others are The Singer, and the Athlete. Undoubtedly they will show up in this thread eventually.

LOL - here's another one from me. The Athlete.
The first is just hand-colored with the fabulous palette of colors we have available in Photoshop.
The second iteration - well, I just let loose with Topaz to see what would happen.
