The list, note that a couple of the items are dependent on who gets it:
Canon 28-80mm
CF Card
50mm F1.8 or 28-300mm
Tamron 19-35mm
Tamrac Holster
LowePro Orion Trekker camera bag
58mm CP
Remote
Woody & Rubber Ducky
2x teleconverter
420ex flash
Star filter ??mm

This is great! Be sure to send your thanks and gratitude to everyone that is putting items up though!

I think your idea with giving away the camera is amazing! A lot of people are forgetting the basis of your idea though.I think you should forget the NAMES and pick who would benefit from getting the camera the most in the short term and long term.I think you should narrow it down to 2 or 3 people and just draw a name out of a hat.I don't think one person deserves it more then another.

I just got home so I just got your PM. The star filter has no threads. It's a cokin. You either can just hold it (it is about 4" in diameter) or you can get a cokin filter attachment. (The attachment goes on the front of any camera and the cokin slides into the front of it). It will work for any camera. I have heard of people who actually just tape it on to, but I just used to hold it in front of the lense. I never did get the attachment and it worked great.

I recently just bought a 58mm that I can screw on and rotate at will so I don't use the cokin anymore. It is in great shape and has its case to. All set to go. :) Just let me know!

What a wonderful list of goodies! Everyone is so generous! Terrific crowd!

I cant think of a more wonderful person, Sher would absolutley put the camera to amazing use..(just look at the womans portfolio) I dare say getting a DSLR would be life changing for her and the photography business that is her hearts passion.
I'd happily throw in a card or something if she gets the setup!!

sent you a PM.

I think this is a wonderful idea and look forward to hearing the decision.

i also think the setup should go to sher. she has done amazing with what she has now... think of what she could do with pro equipment!

By the way, you guys could sell all of that stuff, and get a less expansive setup that includes a better camera...
just an idea

If it has a blemish on the sensor, I think it needs to go to Larus. We need to handicap him somehow. ;)

I contacted the recipient and let them know the camera is theirs if they want it. I’m not going to post who I gave it to, they can share that information if they choose. You can be assured that I did not send it to my brother or anything like that though.

This has been a tough decision, much more difficult then I thought it would be. All of your PMs have been going through my head all weekend. I wish I had the resources to make everyone happy. However, if anyone else has a camera to give away, let me know and I can give you a list of people that will put it to good use and could really use it.

I put a lot of thought into the selection, considered the opinions of the others offering up items and in the end based it on a combination of several factors. This has been a much more enlightening experience then selling it for a few dollars on Ebay.

I want to thank everyone for your kind words, and I especially want to thank everyone that added items to go along with the camera (expect a PM from me soon). DPC is a great place!

Daryl,
After checking this thread numerous times, I finally get my answer of ''who got the camera and goodies''.
I'm sure you made the right choice! Congratulations to whoever you gave it to. You're a great guy to do this.

i know there were a lot of people that wanted the camera and all the other wonderful donated items and i wish there were enough cameras for everyone who needed one. everyone who wanted this was equally as deserving.

i'm just so excited to say that i was chosen to receive this amazing gift. i can't stop my hands from shaking and there are huge happy tears in my eyes. stunned would be an extreme understatement! i keep checking the e-mail to make sure i didn't just dream it or didn't read it wrong!

thank you to Daryl for choosing to make this camera a gift...and thank you to everyone for joining him in donating all the other items! i've never seen such an amazing display of generosity and community. i am in awe of you all.

thank you again for all your kind words and support. i'll try not to let you down. bless you all!

with much love and gratitude...

Sher
From the looks of your portfolio, you have the makings of a great photographer.
Sometimes things are just meant to be.
You trudge along in life and hope that things will get better and sometimes nothing happens,
but then when something as ENORMOUS as this comes along, it renews your faith in man (and women, ha)
So, enjoy the bounty and start your own thread of ''how you're doing''
We are all rooting for ya!
Congratulations!!

Congrats on being chosen for this present. You will have mail coming for the next week or so. I hope you can keep from chewing your fingernails off waiting for all your toys to show up.
