I always wondered how exciting it would be if you could go back in time with todays equiptment with a gig card and your best glass. Pick one event back in time that you could attend and be the official photographer for... What and when would it be, and what would be the goal for the photo you hoped to capture...

time capsule anyone....anyone???

how about times and events that predated photographic history? Or how about "history" itself? Think of the possibilities....2000 years ago, 2 million years ago! Wow.

How about the Big Bang (assuming you believe there was one)? Oh, wait, where would I put the tripod? Also, it might be hard to stop the lens down to f/8192 to get the proper exposure ...

So if there was a Big Bang, what do you suppose would show up on the print? Or what do you believe we would have seen?

Depends on the shutter speed and buffer capacity. I'd shoot in "burst mode" if possible.

Did light exists then? Maybe after few attoseconds, so it perhaps does not matter :P

As a former architectural photographer, my list of subjects is pretty ovious: The construction/erection of:

1. The pyramids
2. Macchu Picchu
3. The Easter Island heads

Everyone wants to know how these were done...

Other obvious hits would include the crucifixion, the loading of Noah's Ark, the sinking of Atlantis...

Robt.

I thought that one was pretty well figured out -- I've seen demonstrations on TV of workable techniques.

Rather than the Crucifixion, I think I'd stick around for the Ascension.

How about the first moon landing. Would have been nice if camera's were invented back then.

Cool, mythical times. How about this then:
A day in Valhalla (all the fighting and partying)
King Midas would be fun.
And Pixies, of course. :)

1) The day I was born...to see the expression on my parents' faces.
2) The day my little sister was born...to see the expression on MY face when I met her for the first time.
3) Two years before I was born...to see my grandfather because he passed 3 months before I was born.

;^)

I would have loved to have been able to capture the departure of friends and family as they boarded the Titantic for its maiden voyage. We went to view the Titantic exhibit on Friday. It was very emotional, from the inception of the ship to the sinking. I thinking it would have been wonderful to capture these last hours.

1) Jesus the Christ at the last supper and in the garden
2) The Apollo 13 mission
3) The destruction of the Berlin Wall
4) Albanian refugees in the former Yugoslavia
5) The Wright brothers 'first flight'
6) Germany winning FIFA's world cup in 1990

wow ..
hard to imagine the disapontment in these events
mundane, and or flights of fantasy

hollywood has made everything so pretty & dramatic --
(or made it up from the start, hell, they can even get a book right )

slavery, misery, dirt, pestilence, famine, death & open sewers + bad dentistry & the godawfll SMELLLLL ...
the stuff of history

----- if i may ---- & sorry if i offend but ...
"birth of christ" .. holy afterbirth ...

Benjamin Franklin did not discover electricity but
supposedly did confirm that lightning was made of electricity

yessssss... the talking serpent ...

"Michaelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel" (the ceiling took four years.. how many pictures did you plan on taking? )

"Any day in the life of Leonardo da Vinci"- yeow i bet he had lots of mundane days --

"The first Rain (Noah Ark) " --- myth - every religion has a flood myth ... two of every animal .. ... ya ..

" Cleopatra floating down the Nile in all her regalia "
rich chick on a boat -- just go down to the yaht club ..

"The sinking of Atlantis " -- how about Eruption on the Island of Thera ... bit more factual..

aaaaaagggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...............
