As some may have noticed I participated only in one challenge since May this year, I still take photos when we go away but when we are at home I am working on this:
World of Margaret
(scroll down, there are 10 images)

For the last few weeks I have been trying to do a smooth video simulating a flythrough my virtual world but I can't get it right. I am doing a lot of tutorials at the moment to improve my virtual videography skills.

I wonder if any DPCer has done any 3D graphics work before?

Wow - what do you do with this? Is this for a game of some type? Looks like a HUGE amount of work!

Thanks for checking it out, some people write autobiographies, I decided to create an interactive world with significant elements of my life - childhood in Poland (the room with Disneyland on the old TV), then living in Australia and scuba diving (the cellar with water and reef), and now living in Switzerland (lake and mountains). There are many photos, videos and objects I am planning to add. It will be possible to play videos, grab and rotate objects for closer inspection, there will be many animations of objects and animals. The scanned people will not be in the final "game" but I might include a humanoid animated guide person as well as an AI programmed pet dog following the guide around.

To be honest I don't what I will finish with, I am just enjoying the journey :)

That's a really interesting idea -- I'll be sure to check it out.

6 weeks later I finally got something together for a relatively smooth virtual drone flight through. It is still work-in-progress, as soon as I fix some issue a new one pops up! It has become a never ending learning project. The good thing is that keeps my brain active, I prefer this to solving crossword puzzles ;)

I spent some time on the sound track. I used Chat GPT to polish my narration and TTS (Text to Speech) with Australian accent to read and record it, I added also some sound effects so watch it with the sound or automatic captions.

Very interested in feedback, especially from those who have played with video production (or do it for a living like Alessandro :)

I am still improving the video before I continue working on interactive components of my World so any comment will be very welcome!

Oh!

I had only clicked on the first link.

Now, I've seen the video!

Wow!

And it's fascinating to see/hear about your life!

Is that your voice?

I didn't know you were born in Poland. But, really... how would I, I guess! Ha!

I love it.

Thanks, Lydia. I am very happy that you did :) It has been a lot of work.

I am now working on the Polish childhood till uni section, sorting photos, and thinking how to turn it into a story. The next video won't be a fly through, I will be learning how to operate cameras for cut scenes.

It's not my voice but a free AI based TTS (Text To Speech) with Australian accent, have a look:

That's getting exponentially smoother Margaret. I can't wait to explore some of the sections in more detail as you flesh them out.

Thank you Mr Bear, I am very pleased about this. The Swiss section that you would like the most, I assume, is still some time away but I already have many ideas which will involve scanning the Swiss countryside buildings using my DJI Mini 3 Pro drone :) There are many charming chapels and barns that can be still scanned as they are not close to inhabited areas. I don't know how much of this you remember or have seen in your youth but they are beautiful. Just today we went for a hike at Moleson (in Gruyeres region) and we came across a beautiful chapel that I could scan with a drone without the fear of losing my pilot's license.

As you start with your Polish childhood and time in Australia, France, Switzerland wouldn't it be more interesting and realistic to use your own voice? Unless you decide to have a narrator

I tried that and my own husband of 40 years did not recognize my voice! And in English I have a Dutch accent (no idea why), in Polish I am starting to have English accent, and in French I have a rather heavy English accent as I learned French from English (not Polish). On top of it my diction is poor and most people would not understand me in any language :) And I can't afford a professional narrator. Free AI-based narration works best for my purpose, personally I think it is great that it is possible to do it these days.
