Most certainly looks like decay. The nose of your model is uncomfortably large. The eye doesn't give the impression of decay but rather of some sort of demonic possession - which ties in nicely with the soul angle.

Very intersting technique and most certainly not a pretty shot. I think it fits the title very well though.

the model is "me".. so now i have big nose and my face is rotten :P

I have skin balm that will sort out half your problems;0)

Seriously though, the pose you have adopted runs your nose right alongside your fingers and really does draw attention. I know this is not meant to be a flattering image but it was unsettling - and here I am changing feet so to speak.

i see what you are saying but i wanted emphasis to be on exagerrated side and i didnt notice the nose but, it makes it that much better ey:)

mehmet, can you give us a little insight as to how this was achieved?
06/16/2004 05:55:18 PM · #9
Man I tell you. Chicks. They always say that size doesn't matter. And just to clear it up now - if every thing was in proportion you'd have a schnoz like an elephant ;0)

Hope that's pay back for the unintentional rude comments

there is a photo of me in one layer.. and about 6 different layers top of that with different textures.. most of them are blended with color dodge some of them with overlay.. some of the textures were copied into another layer and embossed and desaturated and applied as overlay with different transparencies.. i masked eacha dn every layer just to let what i want to show through.. i did a lot of dodging and burning and levels and hue adjustments to make the colors all match and shadows to all match.. and after that i flattened. and applied a warming filter at about 75 percent to give it a nice tone..and that is about it..it i tedious work.. but i love this kind of effect..

are your texture layers photos of texture?...or photoshop texture?
06/16/2004 06:06:42 PM · #12
they are just high resolution textures that i used to collect when i was a 3d animator.. now i realized i can use them with photoshop too..:)
they definately arent photoshop textures.. but i am sure same effects might be achievable with photoshop textures also.. might just take a lot longer..

Oh no fair! you and your 3D animation experience. I really like the pic...looks part man part statue. Could be neat to play with photos of textures too.
06/16/2004 06:15:07 PM · #14
well the texutres i used were just in jpeg format.. they essentially were photos of textures.. only difference is they are kinda high resolution..

so much to learn...so much to learn. Tis good inspiration you've given here. :)

If you are not already aware there is a site called deviantart where a lot of dark art is created, shown, and critiqued, including some very good tutorials. They also have a lot of photomanipulations.

Really unusual. I do like the textures and the colors, especially the eye color. Impressive! :o)

It can take a while to get a large friends list but once you do people tend to comment more and go to your profile via other people's favorites. I only mentioned it as a lot of your recent postings have been dark art and photomanip's that DA is known for as opposed to DPC that is normally more photography.
