Agreed. I seriously doubt that any 6 year old would have that as a "favourite song" at that age, unless her parents had rammed it down her throat since she was 1.

I hope I get a chance to run into him.

I have to agree with you - the singing of the girl was not very good - she was very sharp on several places - especially the high notes. Very nice for a 6 year old, but nothing that 'blew me away'.

to go back to that 6 year old singing kid... i think it sucked. I thought it was contrived all the way to the back teeth. She was cute, but she sucked at singing. Vibrato wide enough to park a bus in and I'm against these parents that seem to live vocariously through their offspring, something about it doesn't sit right with me.

Indeed. And so it should be for a variety competition.
I'm sure it's done Tony no harm - I expect his album won't be coming out on some small independant label any more.

Well I thought Connie had it in the bag, but well done to Opera Guy.
My tip fell in the semis - knocked out by a novelty juggling act :D

And here's Connie's semi performance:

She did "Somewhere" again in the final.

The monkey was hilarious.

As for the Opera guy...I think it was more of a visual thing for liking the first one better.

He appeared more timid in the first and the clothing was unpreposessing. It came as a shock to see him sing so well.

In the second it was all flash (the background), and he was all dressed up. You were expecting something great and when we got great, it wasn't that impressive anymore.

I posted this in the youtube thread but guess it belongs here too ... I'm cheering for this guy ...
Tony Laf - I'm Good

I just hope the audience shuts the heck up so we can hear his semi-final performance, they ruined opera guy for me.

hahah, he really jumped the shark with his alternate monkey act, however I think Piers Morgan was right to put him through so it didnt turn into another singing competition.

Ladyhawk22.. it aint all great talent, they had this one insane woman who thought she was Madonna, that somehow had got through to the Semi-final.. it was a mess, but entertaining none-the-less. oh yeah, and the dancing dog troupe, awfully bad, but awfully funny.
If you want to see the whole episodes you can find them on all good bit-torrent sites. But I will keep this thread updated with all the highlights and links when they get posted on YouTube (god bless youtube!!)

Tears flowing here, that is what talent is the ability to affect people by what you do and I am affected ( by both)!

I hate to say it, but I liked his first performance better than this one.

I put that down to all the noise the audience was making - he was hard to hear. But imagine him recording in a proper studio, minus distracting noise and plus all those helpful buttons and sliders.

I disagree...his top notes were cleaner and purer in the semi final then in the Nessum Dorma. He gained some confidence. He has great top notes but his middle and lower need some work. A good teacher can fix that up and even extend his range....and career.

I have only seen the Opera guy and the little girl. Seems much more enjoyable then American Idol.
