UPDATE:

We are still planning on shooting Sunday morning, if anyone would like to join us at Graffiti Wall at 9 am. See below for directions.

WE WILL GO AHEAD AS PLANNED AND MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON WEATHER AS WE GO. I will try to check back in sometime tonight, feel free to call me if I am not responding to email/forums, otherwise see you in the morning!

GTG will occur on April 12 and 13 for people that want to make a full weekend of it. Saturday we are going to meet a 9 am at the Zoo (just inside the South Entrance by the fountain). And Sunday we are going to meet at 9 am at the intersection of Chouteau and South Lenard K Sullivan Blvd (which runs right between the arch and the river). If it is looking nasty out either day we might have to move inside. But let's start here and we can make decisions as a group. Check the maps I posted for directions.

See the rest of the thread to discuss where/what to shoot. You can read the whole thread if you want and just skip over the listings of possible places until the ones with internet links (as those are the possible ones). There are some ideas already and the possibility of having a model or two do TFCD work modeling at one of the sights. See the rest of thread for details.

Thanks Drew,

I just got the PM's sent out from the list of attendee's from last year. And I think I sent a few more as well. I'm up for whatever we can work out and schedule. I'll put my name on the list, my wife and son will most likely be there as well.

I just typed "Missouri" into the location box on the Photographer Profiles Page and hit everyone that came up with a PM directing them to the thread. That didn't hit everyone though, as some people don't spell out Missouri in their profile locations. I have a list of who I alread sent PMs to, and will check that against another search of "MO" when I get home from work and send out PM's to anyone that got skipped the first round, and again for "St. Louis" to make sure to let everyone know at least about the thread and the probable GTG.

I am in for sure and will probably bring the wife along as well.

Edit: 60 PMs went out to people with Missouri listed in their location. Will send more tonight from different pools.

2nd Edit: I've sent a PM to everyone with "Missouri" "St. Louis" or "Saint Louis" and am working my way through the "MO"s 18 pages...m-o seems to be popular in a lot of place names...montana/montreal/etc!

Don't forget southern Illinois too!

Depending on the date, I should be able to attend at this point.

FYI, Botanical gardens is hosting their Annual Orchid show now till March 16, for anyone who may be interested.

Festival of flowers is Sat. May 19th In Historic St. Charles.

I will keep an eye out for more venues as I get them.

I'm interested. Right now my weekends are open starting with March 22.

Hi,

Thanks for the email! I would love to go on this photography day! My only weekend that I won't be free is the weekend of the 23rd of March. I have to go to Kentucky that weekend.

March 22nd is my birthday!! :-) That being said, perhaps I could talk the hubby into a GTG birthday present.....hmmmm....

I'm pretty flexible. Only weekend that's bad so far is April 5th, which is the hubby's bday. Though even that's a possibility as we'll likely be in that area visiting family.

All suggested locations sound great!! I'm in love with botanical gardens....anything with flowers and butterflies. How much more girly can I get? *sigh*

I'd love to get together also.

Are we trying to keep the venue close to St. Louis? If not, some suggestions: Alley Spring/Emminence area, Bollinger Mill, Dillard's Mill. All of these are South/SouthWest of St. Louis.

I'm out the first and third weeks of April (photo trips!)

Sundays are the best for me and it doesn't really matter which one. I might be able to swing a saturday if I have enough notice. I'm a member of the Botanical Gardens so I can get one prson in for free with me if we go that route but I'm open for anywhere.

Sounds good, I'm close so no probs with me being able to attend, count me in.

As for the date...I'm open, but just remember early to mid march could be a total freeze out, especially if we try to get started early until the late evening.

I'm really interested in hearing everybodys takes on Points of Interest.

Do we have to keep it in St. Louis? No I would say not, however for me to attend where ever we go has to be handicapped accessible. Well at least for my family to attend, and they do like to come along so if possible lets make sure we can do that. If not, I could come by myself but I prefer not too.

I would probably prefer to keep it pretty close to St. Louis, unless it's east of the city :-) I'm already planning a 2 1/2 hour drive just to get into the area.

any of those things sound good to me, I don't get to the city often so it all sounds good to me. My only suggestion is to make it somewhere Matts wife and son can go. I enjoyed them last year and look forward to seeing them again. A two day trip sounds good to me.

There is the butterfly house and carousel at faust park. Both are handicap accessable.

I am fine with STL. Just please don't start TOO early ... it's 4 hours from KC. :)

Erin I'm sure somebody here would volunteer you a place to stay the previous night.

I suggest (not me), we have a lifestyle that is not fitting for everybody, (We party country syle, ya feel me!LOL).

What I'm getting at though, is even I have a sister that lives on the upperend suburbs, and ya'll are close in age, she digs new people, and has a huge house. She just doesn't dig cameras as much as us.

Alright thinking outside the box....Does anybody have a boat?

See if we could all hang out in a park, (Boat accessible) the people at bay could chill and take photos of wildlife landscapes, portraits, and the cave The crew in the boat could come back, and the next set could go. Can anybody spell W-a-t-e-r-p-r-o-o-f.LOL

Meremac Caverens, has a boat dock, and a sweet addition to the portfolio. If I remember right they even have a boat ride via pontoon.

A beautiful river too, gorgeous.

For anybody that doesn't know, This area is 50mi west of St.L in Stanton,MO a strait shot on Hwy.44.

The only issue with that is some will already be driving multiple hours to get to St Louis and then we will need them to drive an additional 45 minutes each way to the caverns. As cool as the caverns are it might be best for some of the out of towners to stick closer to town.

Could I make the suggestion that we get a date set, it seems we have lots of great things and places to shoot so I would like to get a date set so I can get it on my calendar before something else comes along. I am busy the weekend of March 15th,29th and April 5th. Juniper366 is busy march 22nd, ladyhawk22 has a birthday on march 22nd and hubbys birthday on April 5th. So I am suggesting we pick the weekend of April 12th. just an idea.

I went to a gtg in Chattanooga in Jan and they met downtown and shot all day Sat and the ones that wanted met and ate together that night. Some stayed and went out of town on Sunday to shoot in some Civil War parks. What I liked about this was that some could only come for part of the day Sat and some were only free on Sunday. So this provided a wide variety of times and locations to shoot and some of us did it all. Some even rode the electric bull at a club on Sat night.

I like the idea of picking a weekend then deciding on what to do as well. Because of my schedule with the paper, sometimes I get last minute assignments that may take me away for some or part of one or both days. I'd like the oppurtunity to meet as many as possible and shoot some different stuff. So yeah, lets pick a weekend, plan both days, then whoever can attend either, or both days can make the plans accordingly.

Matt

Edit to say, I spearheaded the last one, I'd like someone else to take charge of this one and make the hard decisions for dates and places.
