It is FUN but you feel them for a few days depending where they hit! Its always better to give than receive! LOL

We occaisionally play wars here in Japan using BB guns and we have a little group of us (all westerners from UK-AUS-USA-CANADA) we go and take on the Japanese teams and have a party afterwards, it's always good fun and well spirited I have another digital camera (DSC-S50) that i use on those dangerous occaisions so if it does get trashed Im not really that bothered I will never use my Nikon there it stays at home, It may seem a bit snobby but it's worth having a 'junk' camera for this kind of thing and you can have it round your neck for those really close shots in the action, even when i get 'killed' I lay on the floor taking shots, it's been over 2 years since I played BB wars but I still have my Thompson A1 (120) and my Glok G19 the only thing that is sad is the pics i took went down with the last Hard drive, I shall have to ask my friend if he still has them, he went back to the states and I rarely hear from him.
PS - We looked 'MEAN' ... lol

Here is one paintball shot that I think is taken at the perfect time. But would have needed a lens with larger aperture to get it a bit faster.

about to get hit?
I did what you're asking about once. I've gone paintballing a few times besides that, so I understood the flow and how to not betray someone's position. However, I underestimated people's trigger-happy tendencies! Got shot several times in 2 matches that I photographed. (I did wear a back-brace, like you can get at a hardware store, to protect those tender mid-body areas, and was I glad!)
Everyone on both sides knew I was out there, just taking pictures, but no matter. It was kinda fun, but I didn't feel my pix were that good - I'll have to build up the the courage to try again.
As far as avoiding getting my camera splattered, I figured I would make my whole body visible while I was shooting. If you peek the camera around a corner, the only shot you're affording the "enemy" (everyone!) is a head shot. If you step out, they'll go for the body. You'll have to choose!! |

Yeah thats for sure the way you need to do it wkmen. Make sure you are totally visible and in a luminous refs top if you have one! I'm thinking of getting a UW housing for my 10D soon so that would work perfectly and i could get right in the middle of the action without worrying about an accidental (or not!) hit!
The only problem is, the guys at my club would love the chance to shoot at me when i don't have a gun so either way, i'm gonna end up spotted all over!! OW OW OW! |

I spent a week at Fort Knox with a production crew as the still photographer shooting the ROTC Cadets at training school. We shot the paint ball war games for a day. I wore a yellow rain slicker and sang show tunes to help from being shot. Needless to say I was a moving target :) Here are a few shots from that day. |

That looks like great fun! We don't get to play big games like that here. Jersey's too small :( |
