Lens Details:
Canon 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro
Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6
I still dont actually have a coupler so I had to balance the lens in place, but I've taken a couple of new shots using 300mm+50mm. The mirror lockup from the russian firmware was vital in these shots.
This is just the macro lens on its own, no reversed lens.
This is a full frame shot, no cropping, at 300mm with reversed macro.
This is a full sized crop at 75mm with reversed macro. The DoF becomes too shallow for this bee's eye at 300mm.
When I close the aperture more to try and get a wider DoF I get vignetting so there's only a certain limit I can get to. Comments on the 2 daisy photos would be appreciated, and a print is coming soon for the 2nd shot. The bee's eye was just an example test shot :) Also any tips from the experts would be very useful :)
Also here are a few other shots taken with the 50mm Macro lens yesterday, to show it can be used in all situations. It was very dark so I still had to use ISO 3200 even tho I was on f/2.5. I actually like the grain tho, it adds a nice kinda "pub" atmosphere, which is what I was going for, so I post-processed them really quickly and roughly to bring out the grain even more. What do you reckon?

Great shots Ben. I really like the first flower shots. Very dreamy.
I really like the grain in the band shots. Really adds a a nice touch.
Keep up the good work.

My mate and I were just talking about reversing a 50 on a 75-300 today! Strange coincidence! Some quality stuff, as always. I like the wider angle blue flower most out of the macros. I really like the third band shot on the top row too - looks very Beatles-esque. |
