We want to DQ however many photos are illegally edited. However, if you request a validation there should be a specific reason you suspect it. As a rule there are not that many DQ's for using Advanced editing in a Basic challenge -- most are for other reasons. |
I will not ask for a validation. But there is a shot that could use some spot removals... Hahaha..... |

Isn't that evidence that they adhered to the Basic rules, since what you describe would (probably) be easy to "fix" under Advanced? |

Agreed, perhaps everyone was too busy thinking about balloons with the DPL

I think people were hung up on their pre-conceived notions of what a lingerie photo should be. |

There are a few shots of hung up lingerie for these people :) |

Agree and many people do not read the description so just "underwear" is DNMC to them. I also think that since this challenge was not part of the DPL made for fewer quality entries. Many excellent photogs are in the DPL but did not enter "Lingerie" waiting for the start of the DPL eligible topics, and would have done a wonderful and creative shot for this challenge. |

Wow - 5 days of voting left and over 225 voters! Probably a combination of low number of entries, voters looking for "interesting" ;-) lingerie shots and the start of DPL bringing a lot more voters to the site even if this is not one of the DPL topics. |

I don't think you should be calling-out commenters in the forums, even anonymous ones. Personally, I don't see what the problem is; it's clear to me that, in that person's opinion, your photo came across as lame. You are free to disagree esthetically, but I don't see how you can disagree with how someone else feels. It just discourages people from commenting at all ... :-( |

Obviously, I feel the same way about their comment. If they're going to take the time to type the words, they should at least try.
I see plenty of posts from commenters, upset because they write comments and receive no feedback or acknowledgment from the photographer. "Lame"...that's my feedback for this comment, obviously, I can't give this feedback via PM. The comments that are helpful, even if they're not positive, I check as helpful and in most cases, that's adequate. There's no checkbox for "this comment isn't helpful" or "this comment is lame".

I'm in complete agreement with the general. Any comment, no matter how truncated, that indicates a preference, is a useful comment. Let me put it this way: if you got 20 comments, and 15 of them said "lame", surely you'd think that was valid feedback? I certainly would.

The time/place to respond to that comment is in the image's discussion thread, after the voting is completed (and when you'l know the identity of the commenter), not in the public scores forum.
You can quote the comment and reply "I feel the same about this comment" (or not) and be done with it.

What I can't believe is the number of views and votes I have in less than 48 hours. I'm currently at:
Votes: 234
Views: 526
Avg Vote: 5.3590
Comments: 8
Favorites: 0
Wish Lists: 0
As I keep bouncing between 5.4 and 5.3, I think it's save to say I'm probably going to end up in the 5.2 to 5.5 area.
Which is a little disappointing considering how much effort I put into this one. However I have had some great comments so far.
I've been trying to comment more but find it hard to do so.. when I'm spending some of the time yelling "My Eyes... oh they burn!"..
With that said there are some really good photos in here too. grin.

Finished voting. At first I didn't want to vote on this challenge. But then I realized myself that this wouldn't be fair towards the entries which ARE tasteful, graceful.
I don't base myself upon the body wearing the lingerie, let that be clear.
But some entries are less appealing to watch than others - photographically and the "story" told.
Some of those I gave a score anyhow. One, I didn't give a score, at all, and I've told the photographer why.
When I saw this challenge coming up, I regretted not being able to participate. I had some ideas but couldn't work them out due to non-access to my studio.
Therefore I was without patience to see the entries which were made. I thought this would become on of those challenges were the majority of entries were that well done, that no vote below 5 would be handed out.
A part from some really nice entries, I can say I'm a bit disappointed. |

You have rated 41 of 41 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 6.0732.
Only eight shots scored above a 7 or above though. Seven scored below 5. |

I agree with Spork. Lame isn't a comment, it's a derogatory, knee-jerk reaction. I agree with his view that if you were going to take the time to do that, why not at least mention why.

Because one isn't required to. You are free to consider the comment lame, but not in the forums -- do it in the photo's own discussion thread please, where the comment occurs.
This has nothing to do with invalidating you (or Spork's) opinion, only with asking that you follow the forum rules and that you rise above the level of the person you are criticizing.

Hmmmm. People have mentioned specific entries in this thread and have not been called out on it. They haven't, of course ID'ed the photographer, because they won't know until the challenge is over. It's the same thing with the comments. I've ID'ed the comment, but not the commenter. This thread is supposedly for discussing this specific challenge, but the discussion seems to be a one way street. Now, if I COULD, I'd either PM the commenter, or reply to them in the photo comments, however, that's not possible. If they can anonymously make lame comments, why can't I reply to them with the same anonymity, immediately and in the context of the photo comments?

.. I'm really curious what the average score will be in this challenge, as well as what the winning scores will be! |
