A team mate is seeded by his or hers last 10 Challenge placements....(example:
Last 10 finishes I placed on an average in the 51st percentile, my seeding would be 51.00)
a Team is made up of 10 "mates"
add all the placement percentages together divide by 10 (10 team mates)...and the total must stay under the 80th percentile..

only four more teams left.....who will miss out? |
The team I'm on, is one of those that needs just one more invitee to accept and then we are in (I think). We have 6 confirmed and need one more to make it in.
It's killing me :] |

Uh, so how does this affect the scoring. Yeah, I'm really dense.

here's what you should do, send PMs to as many free agents as you can which you declare that you are willing to send an invite to the ones who is online and will accept in 15 min. and if they don't accept within 15 mins, delete the invite and move on to another free agent who is online and contacted you, I'm sure you will get the full 10 members in an hour |

It doesn't affect the scoring...you asked about the "cap"...in forming the teams, a fair way to do it is to place a high finisher with a low finisher... hense not all the team members finish above the 80th percentile, (if you have a 90% photog...you would then need to balance that one with a 70% one...get it ?)...so when the average of 10 photogs on one team equals at least 80%(or less) you have a legal team.
And this "Cap" is supposed to keep the Team Captains from loading their 10 slots with ribbon winners.
The scoring will be the same in a team oriented DPC thingy...lol...probably lower than a normal Challenge...but it will still have the high scores and the low scores..and probably alot of the same people will score high...but it will be the team score that will count towards the DPL... participation is of the utmost...and alot of the photogs will be "taking one for the team"...as they say...lol

Why don't the final 6 non-finalized teams consolidate into 4 teams before the deadline? |

As captain, if invites weren't answered soon enough, I kept pulling them and sending out new ones.
You gotta be proactive. |

I'm not the team captain, so I'll have to wait and see how it plays out. I think our chances are fairly good, since two of the teams in wait only have one or two members and the rest are almost there. |

well, yeah, I thought the 'cap' affected the scoring.
Anyhow, where were you when I was trying to understand this math-stuff in school.
Thank you for your careful explanations!
You have been a big help in understanding how this thingee works.

[quote=langdon]
There are 8 teams that have yet be finalized... of those, 5 of them appear to actually have a chance, which would bring the team count to the exact number needed. If push comes to shove, I will either force finalize those teams or manually add users from the free agent pool so that they can be finalized naturally.
Don't think you guys need to worry too much - looks like Langdon has it well in hand. Let's face it....any captain that doesn't finalize is not working for the team, and any Free Agent that is too choosy to accept a position may just miss out.
I agree with art roflmao though, the easiest solution is for the 6 non-finalized teams to consolidate then at least those who have already committed get to play. Simple really.

I am really going to laugh if Langdon has to make the last few teams and one of them wins..... |

Haha nice one :) Thats why you are our captain... ;) but we are so close to the 24 hour sunshine, and the whole winter here was breaking records in warmth so maybe you should rather give us the big volcano Katla and 24/7 Northern lights... Now that would even get Heida back and she already moved to Portugal ;)
Glad to see so many old timers;) Now we can Party... Looking real forward to see some great photos from many talented photographers here and happy that i can take part. |

Team scoring will also be by percentile finish, so as to "normalize" the results over differently-themed challenges, and to not penalize who do well in a challenge with overall low scoring. for example, if you have two challenges and one turns out to be filled with eye candy, a second-place finish in the other challenge (with a score of 6.4) will be worth more than finishing fifth in the popular challenge with a score of 7. |

So... just to confirm... things get started with rollover in a couple of hours? The challenge announced is the first for the DPL2 season?

Hey I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but Konador's team throw up a red flag, see here: //www.dpchallenge.com/league/league_team_profile.php?DPL_TEAM_ID=112
All his players registered on the same day with no info and don't even have camera's...
Hmmmmm?????
Also, moominmolly's team is also suspicious...
//www.dpchallenge.com/league/league_team_profile.php?DPL_TEAM_ID=128
Can anyone answer this???

Perhaps they know someone - say Konador - in RealLife and have signed up because he told them all about the cool league play about to begin at this nifty place called DPC? |

Ben's in the graphic and promotions business, fresh out of Uni, specializing in wildlife non-profs. I expect he got a bunch of real-life friends to sign up. He's site council, I can't believe he'd do anything so obviously twisted as to pad a team with ghost accounts :-)

Even if that is the case it still looks very suspicious.

everyone's team profile looks like that, it's the stats for the dpl which hasn't started yet :)
edit to add, date joined is date joined the league not the site.

Yes, RealLife can be very confusing, and often threatening. :-) |
