if you're a guy photographer worried about a parent calling the cops on you- i can tell you your best bet is to approach the parents before hand, ask for permission to take candid photos- explain that you are a photographer in training etc- and be willing to show ID (ie offer to show your id) no better approach than a forward polite one; and if they say no they say no- you can even offer to email them some of the pix for free ;) -- parents tend to love free photos of their kids -- i know if someone came up to me with a large expensive camera and asked me as a parent about taking candid photos for a photography contest- and they provided the web page info of where it would be located/used -- and were willing to show ID-- i probably wouldn't call the cops ;) because chances are they're not sicko-perves --but if they were hiding in the bushes and being sketchy.... i def would ;)

:-) goodluck everyone :-) i cant wait to see the pix for this challenge and vote

I expected quite a few more entries by now, but maybe the Easter egg hunts aren't over yet. I predict quite a few last minute submissions. Good luck everyone. I've tweaked mine yet again. Glad I'm leaving, or I'd be fooling with it all afternoon. LOL

Sorry, but this definition would infer, that the child is not yet born and as such would not meet the parameters of the challenge...at least that's my take on it...Let the debate begin. :O)

OHH I like this extra rule: Failure to meet the challenge should result in DQ. Also note that this speed challenge is open to all members..

I have a few ideas up my sleeve.

I think women can get away with this, but not a 29 year old male. If I show up with a zoom, it'll only be a few minutes before someone calls the police. Just the world we live in now.

You can always use the zoom from a distance.. (Being a rather intimidating looking 29yr old male myself I understand this..)

Does anyone think I would get penlized by voters if the photo had an adult in the photo as well?

I would guess yes, but not by me! Children are children. If they are present then it should work. I also think some folks will see the term as plural as previously mentioned.

I wouldn't as long as the child was the main point of the photo...

That is taking semantics to the extreme!! If that were the case, portrait photographers would have to have subcategories of Child and Children. Crazy.

Jeez, you guys are acting like er... children. Now stop it and go submit your images.

Then it's bedtime for all of you!

:)

I looked but couldn't find any children on speed, so I had to pass. Bummer.

My two cents --

there is no challenge description, therefore the challenge topic indicates that the challenge will have children in it. collectively, as long as there is at least two pictures entered (and there is), if you click on this challenge you will see children.

some of them will be tiny; some of them will be big; some will be alone; some will be together.

but they all add up to make children

Well I was going to enter but it said it had a problem uploading :/ and I re-tried a couple times and it wouldn't work. It worked uploading to my portfolio after the update.

Since I didn't get to enter I guess I will share my image here...
