The results of the 'Product Shot II' challenge have been recalculated, due to the former blue ribbon winner being disqualified for not being able to provide a valid original. Congrats to our new top 5!

Not for naught at all. The blue ribbon gif was lovely, indeed, but the photograph will still be there. The photo itself doesn't magically POOF and go away or anything. And it is still a very cool photograph!
For those who don't want to go see which one it is:
Edit to add the DQ is due to inadvertantly saving over the original file. Note to all - MAKE SURE YOU KEEP YOUR ORIGINALS UNTOUCHED! Just the simple act of viewing a jpeg can add or alter data; shoot RAW, or keep a separate folder for originals - don't even look at 'em!

fist let me say I'm bummed this got DQd. It was such a great shot that took a ton of work and imagination. The photog should be very proud nonetheless.
I have a question that is tied to this: when submitting an original it has to be in JPEG format correct.? Well, I shoot RAW and was wondering if I'm supposed to convert a copy of the original and just not process the raw info at all or is it okay to raw process and copy that as an original? Hope that wasn't too confusing, I'm very new to all of this.

If you shoot RAW, you submit the RAW file. This is the best approach as you can't go wrong with submitting RAW's as originals, they don't get affected by file transfer software etc. |

Thanks for that info guys. I didn't realize you could submit a RAW file. I guess submitting for authentification is different than submitting for a challenge. Good info to know. |
