I have an entry for this one. In basic editing,is it ok to use the dodge tool to correct a minor blemish? It's a very small shadow. I used the dodge tool at 2%. Then use the overlay mode for high pass sharpening?

Ithink the dodge tool is verboten, its spot editing, thats my take on it but check with SC to make sure

No, no dodging or burning in basic editing; no blending modes either (so no overlay mode for high pass sharpening.)

Dodge and burn tools and blend modes are illegal in Basic Editing challenges.

Thanks folks. I guess I'll just leave the shadow in. I think I'm being overly picky anyway. I suppose unsharp mask is allowed? And BW conversions?

no dodge/clone individual selections allowed- but you can use things on entire image like adjustment layers or their equivalent (curves) / convert to B&W - perhaps one of those options will help with your troublesome shadow? :-)

i have a good feeling about my pic, which is bad, because all my "good" pics are always terrible

I have a bad feeling about mine - do you think that means it will turn out "good"?

I'm uncertain about mine it can go either way - either ppl will really get it or they wont...and it'll tank and i'll get a ribbon anyway -- a beautiful brown one... I'm betting on the brown - that way i'll be happy with whatever i get pft... I really wish some cloning/digital spot editing was allowed -- curse the basic editing rulset... curse it!

I love the basic editing rule as even that is beyond my pp abilities ;-)
As for my photo I don't expect it to go either way - that is, I believe it's a solid 4.5 to 5 (not good enough to score high and not controversial/interesting enough to score low ie boring!
