I have done four -that's right- 4! shoots for the orange challenge, and I'm still not happy.
Why is it that great results come so easily sometimes, and yet sometimes you can try really really hard and get nowhere?! |

You're lucky, I can't even come up with ideas for one! I'm going to end up sitting this one out. |

A random combination of experience, inspiration and pure old luck is my guess. I may also be sitting this out unless I just happen to shoot something that suits or I have a flash of inspiration involving a shoehorn. |

Hey Lonnie, I think the title of the thread sums it up. Trying too hard! just go with your the shot you like the most.
I know what you mean about great results coming easily. I've hardly been doing any photography lately but today I managed to get three different challenge entries in, all of them were easy to come by and I like them, that's all that counts :) |

oh yeah forgot to mention colour challenges really suck and are usually hard to score well in. I normally don't enter them. |

I've done the same thing......3 seperate ideas all shot, and I'm thinking of doing 2 more today if I get the time. I'm not happy with what I've got so far either. |

Yup. I've done three ideas, and they were all lousy ideas (and didn't work out well), and I'm already saying this morning that I have no ideas for orange!!
I've been trying way too hard lately. The problem is, when you try harder and harder, things get worse and worse because you're desperate. So if you find a way out of this loop, let me know!

Hehe. Glad I'm not alone. I've actually now made peace with the orange challenge. I've picked a shot, and I'm happy.
I hope you guys get something you're happy with too. |

This challenge is MADE for your shoehorn, dude; just go buy a can of orange spray paint :-)

You might be able to find an orange shoe horn -- but orange shoes are NOT in this year! Went to two different shoe stores hoping for a cute or funky pair of orange shoes. No such thing.

Orange spray-paint check.
Hair dye, Check
Monkey, Check..
Don't you wish I actually went to all that trouble :)
--I just wonder how many people are going to nail me for following the challenge description.. |

Hehe. I'm so with you :) That is the main thing worrying me about my shot, but the challenge description leaves it quite open. That won't stop the description sticklers from voting it down though... I can hear it now - "The whole photo isn't orange", "It isn't orange enough", "That looks yellow on my monitor", "It just doesn't say 'orange' to me".
Hope I'm wrong. |

Being happy with a shot can take a little time I thought my entry in the entrances challenge took forever, It was only after self medicating my self with several large cans of Tui Pale Ale that I finally captured a possibe blue ribbon entry, Now I would not reccoment this course of action for all and sundry, but one could substtute any other form of alcoholic libation to aid the process

Well you can't do worse than I did in the Purple III challenge ....I broke the glass dining table from the heat from the lights AND I self DQed because I was not quick enough with the retract button and it rolled over.
And I *KNEW* that this was going to happen - my idea when I called for more color challenges like orange required some objects I had. I gave them on loan to the school for a display for an upcoming event and Bibbty Bobbety Boo Gosh Darn It, the challenge was announced two days later. Sigh.... |

ok, I hated this challenge because I couldn't think of anything. I spent way to much time shooting a lot of stuff that turned out to be total junk. But now that I'm two days away from the shot, I think it's fun, and I like it. I also got a couple of other shots tonight that are fun and different. So I'm feeling much better about this challenge. I'm not expecting much from my entry, because of its many different short-comings, but hopefully some people will think it's fun.
oh no!! now I have to think about entrances and exits!

Definitely tried too hard. Next time, I must tell myself that if it is that hard, then sit it out! |
