Can anyone suggest a quality book on the basics of photography, especially for the use of (d)slr cameras?

Thanks.

John Hedgecoe "The New Manual of Photography" is an excellent reference book.

My husband bought me this book and it is absolutely one of the best (and I have a lot of books!). Very beautiful color production, also.

Just read a review on amazon.com and it seems to be a pretty in depth book. Thanks.

I'd second the Understanding Exposure book. I got it and feel like its a good introduction to basic physics of photography and exposure.

Of course, when you're ready for advanced exposure I think Jacko might have something to . . . erm . . . show you.

:)
