ok, here is my original...I converted this from RAW to JPEG...did very, very little in the RAW Software...but just a little...do you want a totally "virgin" file...if so...I'll go back to the drawing board...

Done using Color Efex Pro. Tonal Contrast applied to the buildings only (including reflection) using removal control points on the other bits of the image and additive on the buildings, then Duplex filter applied to the rest of the image using control points in the same way.

Adjust exposure in ACR.
Crop in CS4.
Slightly enlarge eyes (Liquify/Bloat Filter). Sharpen and brighten eyes and hair. Adjust skin tone and soften skin.

Oooh, I love PP challenges. I don't really have any time, but I can't resist overediting someone else's photo! :)
I'll be the first to have a go at JulienNN's image...

Editing steps are in the image comments.

Full resolution for your viewing pleasure horror - I'm a PP noob. The really tall smokestack looks really badly tonemapped, but there's no tonemapping at all. The original has the weird halos too, I think it must've been a sharpened original or something. Anyway, I couldn't take those out.

ETA: Ughh, I just noticed the weird blocky banding in the sky. Don't know what to do about it :(.
Banding gone by making a new layer, pasting the original, setting it to Hue. Sure, the hues are now the same as in the original... but the hues in the original are very nice.

ETA: Next one:

I think I like the original better lol
Also full-res.

No the original is the original straight out of the camera.

I think it is a good idea to quote who the original image belongs too in the photographer's notes sections. Please.

There are certainly some thin halos in the original, I just assumed it was because of sharpening. Thumb link to original is now posted in the notes section, as is your name.

Thanks for that. BTW, that was not directed at you, but definitely a general comment to everyone in the side challenge :)

Another bite at this apple... trying to get the late (or early) day atmospherics by a bit of darkening, a bit of overall warming (warming filter) and a bit more warming in the sky.
First try was this:

Almost halfway there! Anyone wanting to donate an original (2 max), you have until midnight. Post processing will last until Friday midnight. I'll give all the people who donated originals Saturday and Sunday to let me know which edit they like best. We'll do this for 4 weeks and the post processor with the most wins gets the award (haven't gotten to that part yet, but if any graphic designers out there want give it a shot, that'd be great).

Here's what we have so far...

ETA: I've moved the PPed images to the original post so as not to lose it.

Something a little different

Nik Define denoise
crop + clone out litter and waste bin
Nik low key brushed onto the sky and river to give darker contrast
Nik Solarisation to add the wacky colours
Nik tonal contrast to give depth
dodge and burn on river and sky
sharpen applied to buildings
Denoise again
resize and dave for web

This one, crop, Nik warmth x 2, added grain, Nik lighten darken center, more grain, more warmth, sharpened girl and boy

Topaz clean x 2, then Nik Midnight painted what I wanted, smoothed out the waters, crop, sharpened Swan

Cropped, Topaz clean x 1, Dragonizer, several layers of brightness/contrast/exposure, dodged the sky, Nik warmth and glow, sharpened.

This one was really tricky due to all the stray hairs on the face and slightly soft focus

Nik Define to denoise
crop\Loads of cloaning to remove stray hairs
brushed on Blurring to blend stray hairs
Dodge and burn on eyes
Nik Glamour Glow brush on to the hair to soften
Curves
sharpen eyes and lips
resize
save for web
