Good. I'm planning some food shots and this will fit in just nicely.

This should be fun.

I've been practicing with off camera lighting so this one comes at a good time for me!

I think we can just give the blue to AJHopp and get it over with :)

Unfreaking believable. I was JUST shooting still lifes with fruit. The last shot (which I think was the best of the bunch) was taken at 12:03 EST. I was just uploading them when I saw the challenge. Wow....I never thought that would ever happen!

Good time for this. This month's Flickr meetup is a lighting workshop. This is not a subject that would normally appeal to me except for the perfect timing. Now if I can do something creative and different as well...

Exactly my thoughts too when I saw the challenge! I'll be shooting something tonight but at least it is nice to have access to some benchmark images!

I really need to wake up today, I read the description as WITHOUT fruit. Have been pondering that for the last hour & then niticed this thread & had to go double check the challenge. That could have been embarrassing!! lol

The irony... I signed up for a one tearm study of photography (through the internett) a year ago and was going to have FRUIT as my final exam procect thing. Didn't hand it in! Prolonged the study to find someting "better" as my final masterpiece exam. I better enter this challenge and do good...

ETA: I'm all for handing out the blue already! I remember I was so struck by one of his photos when I came to site.

but what about the age old question: tomatoes, fruits or veggies?

Try it and see if you get DNMC comments.

I was going to mention it just to get the ball rolling. Something I read lately made me understand why some consider tomatoes fruits. They used to be a lot sweeter than they are now and thus were considered fruit by some cultures. I still view them as veggies and will not use them in this challenge because of the fruity/veggie police here at DPC. :)

Tomatoes (and cucumbers, squashes, and many other "veggies") are botanically fruits because they are the seed-containing structure of the plant -- it has nothing to do with sugar content.
