hasn't posted in 2 months. (I was going to warn a newcomer when I realized that it had been awhile since I'd seen anything from him...) |

I've noticed that he hasn't been around much either. Tried sending him a pm yet? |

Unfortunately, I think now he is a bit turned off by the forums now :(.
I think this place has definitely gotten a bit more serious since Art Roflmao and Strikeslip have decided to take some time off. Oh well, the only thing that is constant is change. |

Then that means there's a temporary vacancy for Forum Jester.
Could SC get involved in the decision? (Remembering that official Forum Jester often needs to put in more hours posting than the average SC member) |

Art was in here as little as 4 days ago. It's been about 2 months for Slippy. |

I think I'm in the top three for that position. If that causes you some concern I'd suggest that you beg Slippy to return. Some times you don't know what you've got till it's gone. :)
Decided I'd better edit this post after reading the edit post thread.

I can't put a finger on it, but a lot of 'life' has been bled out of this place in the last little while. I'm not sure why, either.
I know I find myself hard-pressed to keep doing fun or light-hearted posts, where I had no problem doing so before. In fact, any time I even post, I find myself backspacing things I might say in fun because of a weird feeling that it would be immediately taken in the most egregious manner possible by any number of people completely lacking in humor in any form.
It's like there's this giant bubble of ultra-PC hanging around right now, and I don't blame certain people for not wanting any part of it.

Who??? Oh, now I remember. Vaguely.
He is SO yesterday...middle aged guy, not especially hip, cranky at times, seemed to worship his middle finger.
Wendy, it is time to move on to the future and not dwell in the past. |

I noticed his absence a few weeks back and PM'd him, thinking there were some problems or perhaps he was just busy with work. He responded to me pretty quickly and said he's just been a bit bored with the forums of late. I expect he'll soon enough be back in fine form to stir the pot as he does so well. |

Bah, he's an idiot. That bastard! What a baby, running away from the forums like a little girl!
(Somebody has to continue where he left off.) |

Interesting, because I've been getting more light hearted and silly with my own comments of late. I used to be a little more cautious with the stupid comments, but some positive response of late has been encouraging me. |

I noticed this a while back. He updated his profile a couple of weeks ago.
"Posting in the forums has become... meh, I'm done. I'll try to enter challenges here & there, and read to keep up".
So my best guess is he is lurking in the shadows waiting to Slip in when no one is looking and Strike. |

Yep, just no fun anymore. Everything seems to get taken wrong. I've stopped joking around in the threads too. That's what made this place so much fun for me. The joking around, the fun threads. It's gotten so quiet because everyone's afraid of offending someone, no matter what they write unless it's completely PC. I sure miss both Slippy & Art. Sigh... |

I have to agree with you guys, The fun has left the building. Even when you try to be serious about things lately or helpful or offer suggestions, some jackass comes into the thread and insults you for one thing or another.
It is good to see DPC grow, but at this stage I think it is growing mold. It sure isn't the same as it was a couple of years ago. I used to log on to DPC first thing when I got onine and either keep a window logged in or just come back to visit many times through out the day, Now I tend to spend more time on my Facebook page. And only check DPC once or twice a day. |

Louis - I hate to mention this but, um, you are in the wrong league on this one.
It's sort of like when I was on the line with AOL in India for -on and off - 12 hours once, when the nice guy introduced himself as "George" I almost said, "Hi, my name is Amala."
Slippy can say all that above stuff; your language skills are on a different level. So "Aunt Alice" says go back and try that sentence again, only in Louis-speak.
(There, I'm not sure that did anything to preserve my previous image but I hope it's funny.)

I think his reasoning faculties are suspect. Quite a character, though! Shame, giving up so easily as though he were something other than what he presents.
Am I really that starched? :-( |

Not sure if it's possible, but maybe we can "take back" the forums and not get bothered by the stuffies. I, too, miss the fun joking and sometimes snarky comments, but they were usually made in fun, now if people just weren't so damn serious all the time!!! :P
We never used to let the dry folk get to us, but I think it's because there were far more that enjoyed the fun than worried about being so PC every second of their lives. Life is too short to be dull and boring all the time!! I don't mean rude, but light hearted was more often the tone of the past.
Let's bring back the fun!!
Now....for the real truth.....Slippy went to court for his traffic issues and maybe they set a squirrel trap!!!!!! OMG!! Art, Slippy and Leroy could stir a pot like no one's business. At this moment, we are short on jokers and long on ultra-PC folks. YAWN! (smack! smack!.....scratch!) : /
my 2¢.

Perhaps it's time for another "Where in the world is ______?" challenge. We could have a lot of fun devising things that may have happened to Slippy. |

I'm not sure I'd have the stomach to vote on that challenge. ;-) |
