Wasn't that a Penn and Teller show on some farce? Anyway, opinions on this would be interesting. Sorry about linking to the Sun. :)

He's probably telling the truth about the tiger coming at him, with the trainer and all, but the zoom blur is post-processing, for effect. You don't get that just from a tiger running at you, (or anything coming at you, lol), and there's no way that you freeze a moving object that is moving toward you like that by using a long shutter and zooming your lens manually.

Great pic. it just hurts my eyes to look at it! The bluriness around the tiger is making my eyes go squirrelly!

IMO there's something fishy about the shot. To me, it looks like a zoom blur background. It would take a great deal of familiarity with your equipment to zoom at the precise rate of tiger approach in order to keep the tiger in focus. Granted, an object doing a direct approach is going to blur less than one moving from side to side. Maybe the tiger shot is legit, and the photog added in the blurred background to add to the effect.

Yeah, PS allows pics to be manupliated to the point of strangeness. Makes a neat print but makes for some unreal photos, which imo, can easily spoil it.

The zoom blur may have been added to give the photograph an almost 3D feel to it. There does appear to be some halo effect around some parts of the cat. Perhaps if we had a non zoom blur shot it wouldn't look so odd. The photograph reminds me a lot of a snapshot I took in Scotland a few years back. The pose is basicly the same but mine is quite obviously a stuffed animal in a glass display case.

I am sure if I went back & reshot it, with a bit of photoshop I could come out with a result somewhat similar to the one in that newspaper article.

It's The Sun, anything they print can be taken with a huge pinch of salt.

I got the same effect with a car when I was running from it while taking photos with a slow shutterspeed. But this looks enhanced with editing.

I'm more alarmed by the shocking spelling in this newspaper. "Then the trainer would run passed me..."

See quote from Covert_Oddity above. This is The Sun. It is not a newspaper, it's a comic (and not in the funny sense).
