Hi. I'll try to be brief. Being surprised with some of the "Habits" results, I'm seeking understanding:

I first thought that some of my top picks ranked lower than I expected because the photos' "Habits" theme wasn't strong enough. However, The top 10 prove that people relate to the coffee habit (#1 for example:)

and one of the photos that ranked realatively lower was a coffe-related picture:
This was in 60th palce! Now I thought this was a good photo and very realative to the challenge.

Theres another thing that shoots my "challenge realavant" theory down. This entry:

This image came in 8th palce. it's cute, no doubt there. It's technically accurate but not technically difficult and not apparently "artistic". And to me, it doesn't strongly fit the challenge.
Here's another of my tops that scored lower than expected:

The starbucks and shopping images are "publishable" (like in a catalog or stock book for example), and the others I listed here are not so much. (IMHO). I guess I rate "publishableness" highly in my voting.. do others?

Rest of post:

So, I humbly ask, dear voters, what didn't I see in these photos that you did? I know we have voting criteria threads on this site all the time, but they never seem to stack up to what the results actually are. So, using these 4 images as a practical example, please let me know how you voted (numbers aren't necessary)... of course, paying all due respect to the photographers that submitted these images. What I want to know is, according to your votes, who was 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.. and why?

Hopefully this will help me and others take pleasing photographs. Thanks for helping me understand.

(Obviously all in my own opinion...)

For the Coffee one:

I marked the top one above the starbucks shot as it was simple, well exposed and composed/cropped very effectively. I felt the second one was a bit underexposed, and the composition wasn't as clean.

I start with a 'does it meet the challenge' mark, and then offset it by the asthetics/technique. Both met the challenge, but the first one is much cleaner, so to speak..

I gave average marks to the other two, but I think the creative interpretation by the Young Nuns deserves a good mark, as this was a difficult challenge to get outside the smoking/drinking/eating/shopping rut, and it is as you say quite cute.

(bearing in mind this was the first challenge I'd scored... :-) ).

There were four photos in this challenge which held some interest for me:
