I took candids when we were all in Central Park the other day(NY DPC get together).
It really is a good idea to give out business cards when you take childrens candids.
I just got contacted by the parents wanting to purchase them.
I think this could turn into a great way to get extra business.
Just thought I would pass on the idea to others.
Here are a few of the
candids in the park

LOL
I am starting to find that it is best to just take shots without sneeking around. Then the parents have all the time in the world to question or stop you. If they don't stop you, then give them your card.
I am finding most to just ask questions, and yes I have gotten a job by giving a card out in the park.
What experiences do others have with this?
I am curious....

One thing I've found to break the ice kind of is to kind of entertain the kids. You take their picture, then immediately show it to the child. The parent then wants to see to.

I would love to take people candids in public places but feel I'm violating their rights to privacy, even in public places, if I do so.
I'm currently reading a book by susan McCartney who says that what she does is stand out in the open holding her camera for all to see and after about 5 or 10 minutes starts shooting. I think this issue is even more of a problem with being a male photographer. I don't think parents or the general public are as suspicious about female as male photographers. |

I used to think the best way was to sneak around to get the shot, but am finding that when out in the open, I get asked questions and possibly get jobs out of it.
I have yet to find anyone who says to stop.
and yes, kids just love it when you show them the pic...as do the parents.
