Nice to see my better half is doing well though

cripes..... its a low scoring round. There are some very good interpretations that are blowing the average stuff like mine out of the water
4.2 this morning
5.1 at brunch
now 4.9 |

What a horror show...
A lot of gratuitous tilting to explain the low scoring. I said in one of my usual rants that people have a tendency to do things in these technique Challenges but with no purpose. Here we have the perfect case in point.
There are going to be a lot of unhappy voters out there after they get slammed themselves, with a few 2s and 3s...
A lotta earthquake shots....bummer. |

Started with 5.2xx last night :(
this morning up to 6.32xx, plus two faves!
My tilt is pretty subtle...too subtle I thought. But maybe not... |

It's not a theory. It is fact. Recently, someone left lots of comments on a challenge such as "bad", "ok" and "crap", and a confusing comment on mine. I PM'd him after the challenge asking what he meant by his comment and that is when I learned he was on DPC for his photography class. He explained that he was doing as his teacher instructed and leaving comments. I offered him some suggestions for commenting that would also help him with his own photography, and told him I looked forward to seeing his own challenge entries. However, I was left with the impression that he had simply registered for an "easy" class an did not have a real interest.
The first time I encountered this was early '08, when an entry of mine got two nearly identical comments, 5 minutes apart, same camera, similar theme of usernames, same join date. I thought it was one person with two accounts. I notified SC and was told this was a high school photography class. Apparently, they were evaluating the entries together and posting the same opinion. I've noticed this several times since then I have periodically noticed handfuls of nearly identical entries that appear to have been shot in schools.
Oh, yes, gone up to something reasonable and an early fave was a treat for me!

I have to agree. I've not finished voting yet but so far I've been left thinking that quite a few shots would be better without the tilt and I've left comments where that has been the case.
As is customary, it's a shame that there are so few comments.

I'll be curious to see if I get any of those comments, since I think the visual impact of my entry was enhanced by the use of the tilt. Not everyone sees things to same way, so this will be interesting. |

Just got a validation request - explains why it is scoring so low; no one believes such a brilliant shot could be achieved in Basic ;-)

I bet I know which brillant shot that would be! I thought it was a pretty ingenious way just to make people wonder. But maybe that's not it... :) |
