I will be travelling through asia with my Rebel for almost a year. Does anyone know if there is an adapter that is compatible throughout Asia to charge my battery on the road or does anyone have some suggestions regarding this? |

The power adapter for the charger is rated from 110-240 volts. You only need different plug adapters which you can get in any electronics store.

Another thing is be careful. One of my good friends got her 35mm Rebel swiped twice during her trips in Southeast Asia. Lucky for her she had repalcement insurance both times...

If your trip includes Japan, you wont need the plug adapter here. The plugs are the same, minus the grounding prong, and the voltage slightly lower. |

They vary depending where you go.
I've travelled with my 10D, which I think uses the same adapter, through the UK, US and Asia and it works everywhere fantastically with the right plug adapter.
I bought a set of three different adapters, Australia to UK, to US, to Europe and between them they covered pretty much the whole world including Asia.
Since then though I have seen a better version at an airport which was a single plug but you can alter the pins so that the one plug fits just about everywhere... saves carrying several different ones.

Go to Koh Pay Yam on west coast of Thailand for some truly deserted paradise tropical beach shots. Beautiful. Have fun, i'm jealous! |

I've not seen one for the 10D batteries (and 300D as well??? - same battery???) but would be very interested if there were such a beast.

Third party product comes free if you buy the main battery charger, but the whole thing is only $19.99 anyway. 110 volt only though, so no good for where I live ...... but I wonder, I can;t see why the car adapter part wouldn't work anyway, hmmmm, interesting.

Might be better to get a generic 12V power adaptor, that would let you plug in your battery charger and any other devices you'd need to run (laptop, external HD etc) E.g., //theepicenter.com/dc_to_ac_power_converters_and_inverters.html
