I personally like it, just wondering how other DPCers see it? |

Thank you! I agree with what you said. I think tonight when I get home from work I will try and lighten the panther up some....and maybe lighten those beautiful eyes of his/hers. |

Thank you for the comments, they were very helpful. I agree about the fence, I need to blur that out somehow. Just not very good at photoshop. Needs some lessons bad!!
Im going to work on the photo tonight and see what I can do to make it better. I really loved the composition of the photo, and the DOF, just need to lighten it up, and blur out the fence. |

Since you posted a full size version, I tried my hand at it. Editing the cat and background separately on this one was tricky, because of the fine fur and eyelashes that I wanted to preserve. The heavier the difference between foreground and background editing, the harder it is to keep it looking natural. Editing steps are in the notes.
Somehow I lost a little off the bottom. When I opened your full size image it did not all come through. There was a black band there, so the paw got lopped off in my edit.
I thought it was a lioness, but now I see your own title reads panther. I guess I don't know my big cats.

Quick 'n dirty attempt:
Selected the cat did some levels and topaz detail on it. Selected the background, did some motion blur on it. there's some haloing on the cat from the motion blur but I'm too lazy to fix that :-)
R.
ETA: didn't realize there was a large version, worked from small version.

I did a little topaz on it, added a filter to make the cat a little more warm colored, masked out the background and added a lens blur then did a few adjustments with the colors & tones...
fun image..

I think you would have a better photo if you had shot this with a wider aperture. The shallower DOF would have fuzzed out the background highlights for a nice bokeh and would make the fence virtually invisible.
I like the cat's pose, and its fur looks very nice. The main problem is the distracting background.

Everyone's posting their version, so here's my quick 'n dirty edit...
I could do a much better job if I had a RAW original file. Oh well...
