I'm pretty sure it's been brought upa few time. I just think it's funny, I take picture for myself and people who likes it. I'm more than happy to share with DPCers and if you like, good for you, if you don,t well, too bad.
On my Habit picture I had one after the other these two comments;
Not original though. Too many smokers, snooze hitters and nail biters in my opinion. good picture though just not a good idea. - 3
and
very common habit, good choice!
It just shows the types of people we attract, can't please everyone I guess :). At least they commented and for that I thank them.

And thank goodness for mixed tastes! That way at least you can find someone who likes your stuff. Although I've been known to like an image one day and dislike the next or vice versa, just depends on my mood.

hey, there are many folks think different or even the same about the subjects in our photos. However, it seems to be a pet peeve of mine. When there are so many people out there that WILL have the same idea for a photo because it is a very common thing to see or do. Muchless, room for any oringinality sometimes. Sometimes, the original idea is and will be the original idea for decades to come. However, you can photograph it differently. Hmmmmm, I had that problem last weekednd before while photographing the St. Louis Arch, thinking to myself, "how can I shoot this diferently than any image I have seen before?" You can't!!! It's been done before!!!! Hence, a problem..."not original enough." But dang it, I shot the stupid thing and I got a great shot! So, to all those who have shot the same thing, nail biteing, snooze hitters, oh yeah, those too with duct tape on the mouths Great job to those who have done those shots, but more cheers to the one who have made a wonderful and appealing com from the same idea. |

I had the problem of people didn't get to my ideia and felt very unhappy with it, and if that wasn't enough i got desqualified... The comments where a little DDDUUUU!! but the where comments! sometimes people are very direct and they don't manage to see what they are saying!! |

Yah thats what i feel when i see the comments sometimes! but not everyone can get the PICTURE! :) Sometimes you run so fast after ever shot your seeing when your voting that they don't bother to try and look at what it represents! I'm gonna try and make the titles more to the fact to see if poeple get it! maybe i'm going to recieve comments saying dddduuuuu i know what that is, but you never know, so thats what i'm going to do next time! :)

Dang tempting I know, but a word to the wise: the spell-it-out titles are usually not well received by the voters. You're better off taking the hit from the (relatively small) group that may not perceive your point.
When I get a LOT of "don't get it" comments, tough as it is, it forces me to realize maybe my photo doesn't communicate as well as I expected it would.

I love it when I get comments such as "love the dramatic lighting" and "lighting is way too harsh" on the same shot in the same challenge. Happens all the time. At least they are comments! :o)
