I live in Houston and the Nikon School will be in town in February. I've heard good things about it. Is it worth my time and money? Anyone else been?

I went last year with my dad and uncle. For me it wasn't really worth the money, but my dad and uncle seemed pleased. What was most interesting for all of us was the flash segment. I hadn't messed around with external flashes much, so it was nice to see some training in person. They did take a lot of audience questions both during and after the class. I think that alone was worth the money for my dad. They gave away a few door prizes too.
Overall, most stuff was pretty basic with a strong Capture NX sales pitch and speaker self promotion. Sure it's nice to see that your teacher is qualified, but once that has been established we don't need to see more photos or a 20 minute video you made about your family's history using slide show software, especially after we just watched you remake it... honestly! |
