Pay homage to an excellent member of DPChallenge melethia who has a very distinct style. Mimic her style when creating or editing your entry.

How would you define Melethia's "style"? I'm curious...

Hard to pigeonhole anyone, but if I had to make something up I'd say her usual style was "edgy evocative candids"/"slice of life" images.
BTW: I am soooo for this idea. I doubt i'd do well in it but i'd love to vote and comment on it.

I think that is appropriate, given it's one of her favorite subjects. |

I know, right? it cracked me up as I typed it. :P
edit to add: It's true though. no one is one dimensional. Certainly not Deb.

pigeonhole?!? That's hilarious!
As to Deb's style, I have a definition that I use to define style but, much like Crystal, I don't want to pigeonhole Deb.
I do like Crystal's "edgy evocative candids"/"slice of life". I use a boat-load of adjectives when thinking of Deb's work, all of which are emotion-related.
imo -
The appeal of Deb's photos transcends fast rods-and-cones-stimulation, the photos touch all of the senses. Unfortunately the time it requires someone to appreciate her photos is probably five seconds longer than the typical voter spends voting on an image.
Let your mind go and your body will follow. In the case of Deb's photos - let the photos absorb you with their sense of place, their insight, and their ability to transcend the obvious.
The irony is Deb would probably score a 5.1 in this challenge. :( |

L O L !!!!!
Omigosh peeps, I haven't laughed out loud like that for a long time. Scared the cats.
And JP, darlin', you're dead on - I'd score a 5.1 or lower in the challenge. Wouldn't that be a hoot?? Bless your heart for suggesting it, though.
As for my "style" - go with "too busy" more often than not, and wide more often than zoomed, and cluttered (or is that covered under "busy"?) more than clean, and monochrome more often than bright colors. You'll have a pretty good chance of coming close.
Too freakin' funny!!
Heck, this SO made my day. :-) |

Well, then that says that a photo that has enough appeal to scores high has probably missed the mark on emulating her distinctive style. Ribbon winners should be the ones that come closest to debs own score.
Nice thing for her is that this would be a freestudy.

Oh - hints for editing. Minimal cropping (perhaps straightening, I tend to be a bit crooked in shooting sometimes); even if it's advanced, no real spot editing; levels; Nik Silver Efex to see how it looks in B&W. If it's good in B&W, then check contrast, brightness. Resize, sharpen, save for web. :-) |

To make this challenge work, the vote scrubber would have to be changed from one based on score, to one based on time spent viewing the photo, to eliminate speed voting.. |

I predicted this would happen, but no one listened to me. Now it may be too late.

Wait, are we talking about Deb's style used on her shadow website consisting entirely of beefcake models wearing nothing but strategically placed fruit?
I'm in...

Well, for this challenge, the beefcake must absolutely be dipped in dark chocolate or wearing strategically placed pigeons...
Two thumbs UP for this challenge!

for this discussion, I have to drag out (yet again) my all-time favorite DPC image.
Yes, sure, this "Pretty Ugly" image garnered a 4.9778 score - translating to 113th out of 150 but dang it,
it should have been on the front page of the Oxymoron challenge way back in 2006.
I would say, yes, Deb has style -- and a sense of humor that won't quit.
