I've had a few requests to show myself working with my clients. My usual answer is "nope, I belong on the other side of the lens". But to be fair, I gave it a go.

This weekend I had 2 sessions in the studio. One, a baby (pics were posted last night) and the other, an older couple. I put a video camera on a tripod and let it run through the entire session both times. Got the baby's video finished (a few minutes ago) with video clips throughout the presentation showing some of what we went through to get the shots.

The goal of this session was to smash a b-day cake, but I asked the mom & dad if they would let me work on a few portfolio shots first since Rylee was in such a nice mood (giggle). Here is a brief view of how the 1 hour session went...

PS - please pardon my bum, its seen more that I wanted in both session videos.

The video for the other session will be ready in a day or two, I'll share it if there's any interest.

Cindy, whatever you're charging isn't enough. My favorite are the pics with Rylee looking up at the balloons.

That was cute. She really performed when you gave her the cake.

So fun to watch!

The ziploc baggie of Cheerios brought back memories. LOL!

Well done! Well done! :)

Cindi's good ... very good.

That's all I have to say about that.

Now I remember a thread a short bit ago about how someone wanted to produce videos as good as the linked to photog did. Well, in more ways than I can count, this is so much better. Nice work Cindi - both sides of both cameras.

Wow! Thank you all for your kind comments and for watching my work with this sweet lil one. I appreciate your input so much. I'm glad several of you got a feel for how these baby sessions actually flow... they are never as easy as the final result would lead you to believe.

But by far, the best comment was CJ's:

Dude, you just made my day. You can't imagine how much your comment means to me because you told me that I surpassed my goal without even realizing I'd done it. I hope others feel the same. Even if they don't I know one person thought so and that's enough for today. Thanks so much.

That was a beautiful baby...... Good job on the photos. I know it is quite difficult to get good shots of extremely young kids

I've said on at least one occasion that I would pay just to hang out in your studio and watch you shoot, Cindi. This is the next best thing! Loved it! And I would add that the video editing was masterful as well as your photography. Thanks a bunch for sharing!

One question: What was the total elapsed time spent on that whole session with Rylee (love that name)?

Thanks, Ken. Glad to show some perspective on how these sessions go. Rylee (cutest name ever) was only here for an hour. I shot video for 37 minutes (because we forgot to start it right off). Editing the video turned out to be more complicated than editing the shots until I got the right software for it. Now I'll be able to do it easier in the future. BTW, my software choice after some research was Aieesoft - freeware that's not really free. :)

Great to see you at work and great video !! so this is the first video ever that you've edited, I can't wait to see the ones you produce once you really learn how to do them. Nothing wrong with the bum, IMHO.

Your job is much harder than mine.

Your monolights recycle real fast, what brand are they?

this was great watching Cindi, i loved all the interaction you gave, its very helpful to see how a real professional does it! Keep up these awesome videos, I'll always be tuning in if you keep putting them out!

Thank you, sir. :D My lights are AlienBees. I have 4 of them, 3 AB-400s and 1 AB-800. And yeah, they recycle faster than my camera shoots. Great for catching fast action in studio. :)

Thanks all for your sweet comments. I'm starting the 2nd video from this past weekend's shooting now. Hopefully I'll get it finished today.

That is awesome Cindy, one question, when you are sitting that close what lens are you using? You are using a crop camera correct? Gotta be something really wide huh?

Hey Matt. Thanks :) In studio, especially with little ones I shoot with the 17-55 f2.8

I want to be close enough to them to touch them when needed, so that lens works perfectly. And yes, I shoot with a crop body.
