What do you think of a side challenge where the theme would be always a mix of the three active challenges each week (excluded free studies)??

For example: this week the challenge would be pasta, lines and vegetables all togheter... than, on the next tuesday the next subject would be defined with the combination of the three active challenges of that week...

I think this could be fun, and i am sure that some weird challenges will happen!

Wanna play?

Hilarious! Excellent idea! I say start a thread for pictures and go for it. :-)

Teehee.... this past week could have been pink household appliances with DPC ribbons painted on them.

Yes, it does sound like fun and less serious, opening for the outrageous and wacky! I like it :)

Here is an image by JunieMoon from the 2006 Recipe (Food) II challenge which has vegetable pasta and some decent lines:

As long as the photos being posted are during the challenge submission phase it could be fun. If the photos were being posted while the same challenges were being voted on, then I'd say it would be a conflict with Forum Rules #2:

"Please do not discuss specific challenge entries or outtakes until voting has ended. Doing so can affect voting and commenting, so please save these discussions for after the end of the voting period. Please report any posts discussing these, and do not reply to them. Outtake threads posted early will be removed."

I think you missed a word there (as in NOT posted during challenge voting or some such) but I also think it wouldn't be a violation of the rules as I doubt any of the entries to the all-in-one would have been serious contenders in the challenges being spoofed.

Problem is some people might put shots in that were taken in the same series as their challenge entry, so while it wouldn't be the same image, it could make the challenge entry recognisable. Take the current pasta challenge for example, how often do you actually go out to shoot pasta, not all that much, so it seems unlikely you will put together two completely different shots with completely different setups and props.

Also, some people might even go so far as doing it intentionally hoping that it would increase their challenge vote because people knew who the entry belonged to, I'm pretty sure I've seen some images in the challenges where the user is putting in clues to their identity.

Either that, or we can avoid any rules trouble altogether and say that the side challenge postings can start once the results are in for each challenge, after voting is over.

Sounds like a great idea.

I think that this solves the problem...

The weekly update email could be the start to the entries.

I can see Langdon choosing Wide angle and Telephoto shots for the first set of open challenges for this ;)

But if Langdon chooses motion panning for the member challenge, there will be problems mixing the three... (or at least a lot of abstract entries...) =P

A 10-22mm lens is both wide and telephoto, telephoto just refers to a multiple focal lens.

Maybe i am wrong, but I think that a multiple focal lens would be a zoom lens...
