Well I've been all over the map with my shot but I think I've finally settled in:

Thanks for the comment Jeb!

That's a pretty awesome score, Max.

Mine's sitting around 5.0 - 5.1, and most of the comments are pointing out the same issue which is *now* painfully obvious.

It's really weird......Robert talked me into entering my graffiti shot that I *knew* would tank, but I don't care at all 'cause I freakin' LOVE it, and it's been a tad over 5.6 all day.

Go figure!

Hey all,

Ok, after much thought/deliberation and even a 3-week venture over to the *Dark Side*...I am about to pull the trigger and have set aside some VERY carefully allocated funds with which to buy a D90. Probably Saturday, when I am next in Ottawa seeing my sweet baboo ;-)

As for the D40, still up in the air as to sell it for $400 now, while it's still worth it, or be kicking myself for having sold it later.

If you can get the money for the D40, go for it. But if you cannot, keep the body. You can't get a second body cheaply and it can come in handy. But I thought you were gonna go Canon on us? No?

I fully intended on selling the Canon 20D body, but I'm so glad I kept it when my 40D broke! I could actually see bringing it along on a shoot, someday, so I don't have to switch back and forth between lenses, just pick up the other camera!

I agreed to give Canon a fair shake and about a 3-week trial period with a 20D loaned me by RayEthier. That was at Ryan's urging (or course he's a Canon guy). I still shot the same kind of pix I would've taken with the D40, and on a few occasions bravely lugged along BOTH cameras to shoot with!

And in fact the layout of the D90, when I had a body in hand the other day, was very...Canon-esque in terms of layout. Apparently Canon copied Nikon's layout, ie the little exposure screen on the upper right.

Don't really want to sell the D40, but yes I could make some $$ if I can unload it now...or again, be kicking myself for having sold it a few months later. Hate decisions like that :-(

May list the D40 on local sites, give it a couple of weeks at $400. See if there are any serious nibbles. If not, then keep it.

And how are you doing, Deb? Managing to get settled at all or still in moving limbo - ie everything still boxed up (and you usually have to open 3 boxes before you find what you want)? Bought an RV yet so you can come visit?

I'm settled into a room at my Mom's small condo. Everything I need for the time being is here - cats, cameras, computer. So I'm good. Everything else is in storage. I have goofy pictures of cats I'll post at some point. :-) And just bought a new computer I need to get set up - have been working on the laptop but really kinda miss a real screen and a processor that doesn't give me time to make coffee after a few steps in Photoshop...

If I were you, I'd keep the spare body. They do come in handy sometimes. :-)

Yeah, I wish I had one -- this one is aching far too much of the time ... :-(

There arte still a couple of kits floating around with the 18-55 that are selling new around that. If you're talking about just selling the body, or even with an 18-55, IO think you'll be hard pressed to get the $400.

It's a good camera.....I'd hang onto it if you want my $0.02 US

Poor Alan, those Uughs are the worst. Hang in there!

Thanks for the input, Jeb. I am the kind to hang onto things anyway, so will likely lovingly box up the D40 once I am conversnt with the D90.
