ROFL! There's a couple that could be yours, but I have to think about it some more before I guess. |

I've only guessed one so far (well, would have been able to guess two, but I already knew it in advance). I've got a couple of ideas about Deb's, but not confident. I feel like I should be able to get Bear's, but I have to look a little more. |

I'll have to brag and tell you I picked Deb's out when browsing the thumbnails. It was my first comment and vote. She was quite surprised. |

I'm impressed, and it makes me wonder if it's the one of which I was thinking... I thought I recognized the subject, but the style doesn't seem right--that's why I'm uncertain. |

I know at least three of my guesses are correct so far - one which means a lot because that person guessed me correctly as well. :-) |

That's good! I've been in 279 challenges so far and no one has even tried to guess mine! I knew I didn't have a style!!! So far I've voted but didn't guess or comment. I have some idea of who a few of them belong to so later I'll make some guesses. |

I'm going to the member's open house at the zoo on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't been there since the beginning of November. It's a behind the scenes 2 hour tour. I'm not quite sure what's on the itinerary since the invite was kind of vague this time, but I know it's something at the big cat falls (hopefully a meet & eat greet, a tour of the animal hospital, a behind the wall tour at the rare mammals house & the reptile house. Can't wait! |

That sounds like fun Kelli !
We get a yearly family membership to the Toronto Zoo - it's only about a 30-45 min. drive away, so an easy outing when we're going shack wacky around here.
I could spend all day watching the gorillas, My oldest is fascinated by the flamingos, my daughter loves the BIG animals - elephants and giraffes, and the little guy likes the smaller monkeys and fish and stuff.

I'm waffling - there is a mini-course offered at the local college this spring that I would LOVE to take.
It's a bit over $200, which to many people isn't much, but it's more than I would normally spend on myself.
Brad (that's my hubby) has suggested that it be my birthday gift (we usually set aside between $50 and $100 for each of our birthdays).
*IF* I take it, we won't be missing bill payments or taking food off the table, it's not THAT far out of our range.
Help me !
Oh - yeah - and I am still shooting a wedding this fall, my first.
(Max - are you willing to hang out in TO for the day 10/10/10 and help me not miss "the shot" ?)
The details :
Title: Wedding & Portrait Photography
Description:
You will become familiar with various aspects, both technical and creative, in the art of photographing people as it applies to wedding and portrait taking. Emphasis will be placed on controlling lighting, posing and the creative process. You will need to bring a 35mm medium format or digital camera with manual controls over shutter speed and aperture. The camera must also have either a 'sync socket' or a 'hot shoe' for an external flash connection. Please, no 'point and shoot' cameras. You must have a basic understanding of how to operate your camera as well as basic knowledge of the principles of photography. You will have an opportunity to work in a studio setting using backdrops and strobe lighting.

Lea, I think you might need to do a wee bit more research into the course. Is there a way you can contact the instructor? The reason I suggest this is that you MAY be ahead of the curve of what they're going to teach here. If after talking to the instructor you determine there's a lot you can learn, then I'd say most definitely yes, do it if you can swing it. Why? For some reason, I can see you doing children's portrait photography as a side business of sorts - for friends as gifts at first, then for friends of friends for a fee.... You're very good at "seeing" children and in children's portrait photography, that's half the battle! (The other half, after lighting, is getting them to sit still long enough for a shot or two...)

I may be off the mark here, but I thought medium format film cameras weren't 35mm? In principle, I think a course sounds like a good idea - you would learn, and it would give you greater confidence shooting the wedding; that said, I agree with Deb, check that the course is sufficiently advanced for your needs. |

Don't rush yourself, Sara. Take all the time you need - I promise (from experience) that Team Suck won't forget about you even if you go months without posting or entering challenges.
We lost Jesse 6 months ago, and it's only been the last few weeks that I've been back here with any regularity. I'd check in once in a while, but that was it.
But I've been brought back in with open arms.
You will be too.
((hugs)) Many blessings.

I think there's a missing comma: "35mm, medium format, or digital camera ..." |
