I am Andrew Senay, most people just call me Senay (rhymes with penne). I'm a 20 year old university student who loves photography, horror movies, heavy metal and pre WWII jazz. I suck because I haven't taken as much time as I should to learn how to use my camera and photoshop better. Also I suck because I'm a huge procrastinator, I have two exams this weekend so I might not be on so much till Sunday. After that though I promise to upload some other pictures and maybe just maybe a picture of me from highschool when I used to have an enormous afro hehe. Oh and right now I have back to back 4.6 scoring challenges!
I signed up for the Free Study Marathon and I'm looking to start entering a lot more challenges and also to start commenting more.

Fire away, Paul! You know how to reach me. You want best-score option or brown-ribbon option checked?

Uh huh. And has this voice been there long? What other things does it tell you? :-) |
"Deb needs to get an RV and do a serious road trip...."
R. |
Dang. There's a voice in my had saying that, too, but another voice saying "you're nuts - GET A JOB!" |
Deb, simple solution: Write up a business plan for a mobile business/service requiring that you need to be able to live/work onsite. Ergo, that would permit you to write off at least some of the cost of the RV. And surely it needn't be the size of a bus now, does it? There must be smaller RVs out there.
Then apply for a government grant. Not a loan, a grant. The fact that you loyally served your country for many years must surely count for something. Also your military background means you're super-disciplined and super-organized, at the very least. You don't have any kids (of the human kind anyway, lol) so you needn't worry about school or social services coming after you. Of course you have to come up with a feasible business plan, but should all go as I've already planned, all you need to do is put the wheels in motion.
Of course, if all else fails, come up with a plan for a reality show and the producers pay for everything. :-)

It's funny......there were comments made that indicated that I'd do well......I'm delighted, but the *really* cool part is that I had TWO excuses to wander around here in my home area shooting what I like best for a week and a half!
I prolly shot no less than six places I've been meaning to get to that I hadn't 'til now.
It just doesn't get any better than that! LOL!!!

I love shooting this kind of thing too. If we didn't have a foot of snow I probably would have got a little more adventurous! |

I find urban decay interesting, but I adore rural decay shots. I was disappointed that I didn't have time to go out and find something wonderful. The only chance I had was one place near my house, and there wasn't anything too wonderful about it. I entered it anyway, because I really want to hit 100 challenges this year. All I need to do is get something for puzzle macro, and I'll make it!

A quick check in. Mum is making some progress, although remains poorly - long-term prognosis remains poor, but at least she is now able to talk a little more. Snow here in York - we don't usually get much, and so I took a few photos of birds in my back garden - it was good to pick up my camera again.
i am going out tonight with Peter and his Dad, which I am sure will do me good, as I have done nothing but work and visit the hospital since Mum was taken ill. |

Thanks for the update -- I've been wondering how you were doing, but didn't want to bother you. I'm sorry that things are not going as well as hoped. I'm so glad that she's able to talk a little more. Never give up hope -- you never know how time may heal.
Love the shot, btw! Enjoy your night out! |

Susan, your photography has improved so much even over the last year that I doubt that it will take you two years to get a ribbon. It will be much sooner then that I'll wager.

I didn't do squat before I got here, and two of my most recent mentors/gurus/influences are Team Suck giants, Melethia & Bear_Music.
They've both been a tremendous inspiration and help at about the time that I was settling into becoming comfortable with the inner photog that I am.
One of the things I've found to be quite amusing is after a year and a half or so of swearing that I'd never take my 10-200 VR off my camera 'cause it satisfied ALL my needs, Robert convinced me to try the 12-24 as he told me it'd be perfect for me.
Well, I made a bunch of noise and excuses, borrowed one, then bought it, and I have only him to blame for this wonderful lens that I've managed to maintain about a 6.3 average with through the last six challenges.....come to think of it, I haven't used the 18-200 in a challenge since I got the thing!!!!
Not to mention that the freakin' thing has some of the coolest effects that I'd not even imagined!
Just the whole general camaraderie that goes on in here helps to make one feel comfortable, and there's always a Sucker available for opinions and comfort.
It seems that we're doing okay in the Decay challenges.....what does that say about us??? LOL!!!

Okay! I just set up my DK Challenge collection, with this shot as my first example, and to represent the collection.
I have been shooting this old farmhouse for the last three and a half years......ever since I got my D70s.....
I just wish that I didn't have to wait 'til next week! LOL!!!
