OKay, so I wasn't almost tossed, but it is a funny story. I went down to Dolphins training camp today. I brought my old Sony a200 and my 130$ 300mm Sigma lense. The lense itself when not extended is just under 8 inches, and they allow lenses up to 8 inches in. So I get there and start shooting. I didn't even think twice about it, but when I added the monsterous lense hood to it, the lense looked freakin enormous. So security guy #1 comes over, and says its too long. I take off the lense hood, and show him that its not really that big. He lets me slide, and he was very polite. I keep shooting, security guard number two comes over, and says its too big. So I again take the lense hood off, and show him its legal. He again, was very polite. SO after the second guy, I figure, I'm just going to leave the lense hood off. SO, plain cloths security guy comes up to me and says, "Just so you know, you can't bring in any lense bigger than the one you have on there." I laughed, I said, "Believe me, by now, I know...LOL" Anyway, all in all, it was a fun day at camp, and all of the people who approached me about my camera were very polite, which is rare. I got a few good pics from my cheapy lense as well. All of these were handheld from the stands...
Lastly, I really expected training camp to be boring, and it wasn't. We got to sit reasonably close, and I had allot of fun. I highly recommend checking out your teams camp, fun photo ops and it was totally free... Good times...

I absolutely bleed orange and teal! I can't wait for football season. Great shots! I might have to hit that up next year. Where is the Dolphins camp? |

Nice pics! I have some old ones in the Marino days when the Steelers played them in Pittsburgh. I'm actually a big fan of both teams especially since my wife is from the 'burg. |

The camp is at Nova University. The easiest way to get there is take 595 to University Dr., exit south, go three lights and make a right. From there, there are signs to guide you. The facility is nice, and there is plenty of parking. All in all, it was a great time, and I will definitely go next year...
Here is one more of the Tuna keeping a watchful eye ;)
Thanks for all the compliments, its really tough to get good shots there because as you can see in the photo above, there is crap all over the field. Between pads, helmets, cones, and other gear, its hard to get a shot without something really distracting in it... Oh yeah, and thanks to Jeb for the comments...

Looks like we'll have to wait all season to see who bleeds! They don't play each other until the final week (if I remember correctly) |

Go 'Fins!
I used to go to plenty of Dolphins games when I lived in Miami (both in the Orange Bowl and Joe Robbie stadiums).
I plan on going to the Chargers-Dolphins game in September in San Diego. When ever they play out west, I try to go see them. I saw them in San Francisco in 2004, back when both teams were 1-9 and we won! It was a cold and blustery day at Candlestick, but what a great game.

LOL ... I'm in Detroit and we talk about how bad the Lions are ... and IF they'll win a game this year ... but, as bad as they are, I have season seats and still support them ... we tailgate and get sufficiently inebriated to help ease the pain of the game though ... |

HAHA Whatever helps. You still get to see some pretty good teams showcase their talent, I bet. |

I heard that the new Lions coach (name escapes me) had the entire coaching staff watch every down played from last year in order to access how bad the team was. I watched some of the Lions games last year and man, were they bad. Honestly, they were three steps behind every team that they played. So far, this year, they have made some decent moves and I think they should win between 4 and 6 games. The problem is they were SO BAD at SO MANY positions that its simply impossible to address all of them over one season.
As far as my fins go, they have a brutal schedule. Winning the close games is going to be the difference this year, same as it was last year. I'll keep my fingers crossed... |
