Do I get a prize for having the lowest blue ribbon score ever in the recently closed Pigeon challenge........? My "winning" score was only 6.3972, the next lowest was affluence back in August 2005 at 6.4194. |

Cheer up, the death or life and death challenges might just beat you--start of scoring, and no one is posting anything good. |

the numbers doesnt really mean anything. it is the ribbon that counts.
it is like being in a street race. where the race track = challenge topic
and you have the same regular racers (members) fighting for the ribbon.
and the lap-time is your voter score.
it doesnt matter if your lap-time (voter score) is lower than other ribbon scores, because each track (challenge) has different difficulties. |

That's pretty interesting. I see there have only been six challenges in DPC history where the blue ribbon scored under 6.500. Three of those were in 2009. |

was gonna start a new thread but this one proves to be a better place
How are you searching the Challenge archives so easily? I assume you are doing something other than scrolling through 54 pages.
and yea, its a good picture thus a blue ribbon |

Select "Challenge History" instead of archives. The history lets you select to look at the full list and the categories are sortable. |

See the little triangles pointing up and down next to each title heading? Click on one and it will reorder the list accordingly. |

My average score given - AVERAGE - was considerably higher than the blue ribbon score. I think its just that not everyone loves pigeons as much as I do. |

It may not matter if all you are looking at is placement in a given challenge, but the actual vote does provide some measure of the popular appeal of your image. |

LOL! Which makes me just a bit less popular than you, and I shot an actual pigeon. :-) |

You can be proud. That Affluence blue has stood for a long time. I had just arrived at DPC when that challenge occurred. |

Or as Melethia pointed out, perhaps the subject matter of the challenge.

It's all relative. You had the highest score so you get the blue, congrats! I realy like your image, BTW. Well deserved.
It works the other way too. I had 4 7+ scores before I got a ribbon. It was a red with a score of 6.6, now my 29th highest score.
one of the 7s didn't even make the top 10. |
