It's easier to start out low, than to start out high -- there are just some types of challenges that you're going to be better at. Actually, your high contrast photo was quite cool -- it's just going to appeal to a smaller group of people. But all in all, I think it's more artistic than your ground up, IMHO. Who knows, maybe it's the same with your "from above"...? |
Thank you... I feel better. I guess I need to remember how subjective voting is and just continue to enjoy taking pictures. |
if your high contrast is an indication of 20min before deadline I bet if u gave it 25 you'd kick some major tooshi' --- I gave that one a high score -loved- the detail and the luminous eyes- looking forward to seeing what you have entered in this challenge! :-) |

And I thought I had something really good!
Validation request the first day and the idea it's stolen, I now.
But the comments, from the top of the hierarchy, I love them.
And two favs!

Almost 100 vote check-in.
I'm kind of surprised by this score. A lot of the images I enter into challenges are outside the box. So I expect low scores from time to time. Not disappointed so much by the score but by the fact that virtually no one has made any suggestions or explained why they scored the image so low. I have 2 comments and they were both helpful. 97 other people voted and didn't leave a comment.

Bah, was hoping for a ribbon this challenge the way my score started off, but I'm pretty sure I'm out of the running now. Maybe I can still make top 10 and hope for a star instead? Or am I jinxing myself?

Indeed! Great to have you back. Welcome back :)
From the looks of your site and flickr.. Good to see it wasn't a complete photography free hibernation.

I would normally guess I've got a Top 10 score for a challenge of this size, but there seems to be a ton of people in the 6.3 to 6.6 range which probably means there are a few even higher. Could be a high scoring challenge... |

I'm watching my score drop with every vote it gets... I won't be surprised if I also miss out on a top 10 spot. |

Nice thing about not having a score near the top ten - don't have to worry about it falling out of that range. :-) |

It is less stressful!! My SPAM photo was about .04 from a 7.0 score for 135 votes, and then it kept dropping. Things aren't supposed to drop much after 100 votes! Great scores that go up are so much fun! Great scores that drop the whole time really suck--I'll take them, but it isn't good for the blood pressure!
Luckily, I don't have to worry about this one!

considering the fact that i have a 6.4 it -is- a high scoring challenge there is no doubt about that because usually i have between a 4.5 and a 5.3 ;) --this is my highest score -ever- *PB* YAYYYY so far soo good....

Every time I get close to 6.5 I get bombed by a low vote or two and I head back down to the low 6.4s. |

Or... every time you get close to a 6.3, some jerk has to louse it up with a high vote. Dont'cha just hate that? |

I would normally guess I've got a bottom 25% in a challenge this size... So yes, there must be at least 50% above a 6. |

Don't know - have to wait for rollover since I leave scores turned off. :-) It was sub-6 last I checked, but a score I'm happy with just the same. |

Scooter97 and I were getting close for the Brown a while back. Then
I pulled ahead with a 4.44. But Scooter97, you've got competition
again. I'm back to a 4.35 and falling fast.
Sigh - I really like my image. The KOD (kiss of death), I know.
