I'm voting, but I'm definitely not a troll. =)

It means that being a scientist who likes to overanalyze things, I'm using a technique called bootstrapping to forecast my final score. The basic premise is that I know the distribution of votes that I have received in the past (how many ones, how many twos, etc.) I also know how many votes I usually get on my Free Study entries. Basically, I take my known vote total so far, then augment with a random selection from the distribution of my previous scores to simulate the "votes that haven't happened yet." I repeat this 50,000 times, and then observe the range of possible scores that I could end up with.

The 95% confidence interval on my prediction lies from a low of 5.1533 to 5.6000. Put a different way, given my results so far, I expect my final score to fall between 5.1533 and 5.6000.

Aren't you glad you asked? ;-)

Well, not quite. Granted, with only a few votes, my prediction essentially is a function of the mean and standard deviation of the distribution of past results. My predictions will become more "meaningful" as the number of actual votes increases and the number of bootstrapped votes decreases.

My combined score of free study and high contrast is 7.9 ... grain is at 5.4 and ground up ended at 5.1. I am really considering withdrawing from at least one ... :(

Now... fingers crossed that it keeps climbing.

7th vote was a 5, the 8th a 4 and the 9th a 5... so' I'm back on 5.0000 :(

Is it just me or is voting going exceptionally slow on this FS? Perhaps something to do with rollover coinciding with the two Open Challenges.

Wen I woke up I was in 100% JUDI mode I was gonna kill some mofo, then I look here and see it is just a trend, then I hit update and it got better, so I will give it a few hours before posting my extremely lame score

I realize there are some awesome shots in the FS. But a 4.7 are you kidding me? This definately shouLD not be in the 4s. This isn't my first photo ever. It is pleasing and crisp to the eye so it doesn't deserve this insult. Well if it had feelings it woud feel the insult but since it doesn't feel I will have to feel for it and let me tell you I feeeeellllll. I gave to go to work. Blah.

Down there with you at 4.85.

All I can say is broad appeal is a funny thing. I did anticipate people would not care for my subject or treatment. Meanwhile, my totally cliche shot in another challenge is slightly over a 6. Give them what they expect and you will be rewarded with high scores.

My only gripe is the usual: Not enough people leave comments on their midrange and low votes. These are the ones that need the feedback. Please, folks.

The thing is that generally in a freestudy you can have 250+ average/below average shots and people dont have time or inclination to comment on those shots - its only the extremely poor or incredibly good that do well with comments because quite frankly there are not that many about and after sitting through 30, 40 or 50 averagely OK shots, its nice to get something REALLy good, so you feel compelled to comment.

But we already knew all that.

Not being liked much over here, but I knew going in with this one that it would not hit the broad appeal target. I had some landscapes that would have probably done better, but I personally liked them less.

OH god...I was drunk last night and entered the wrong photo at the last minute. I don't even like my entry...how can i expect anyone else to like it!

Note to self: no more getting drunk before submitting for a challenge.

Awfully early to allow myself to be pleased, but it's not a 4.x so I rather like it ;-)

oh dear, not very good. But I like it.
And it was a fun day taking photographs and that's all that matters.
